Austin Peay State University homecoming parade to celebrate the Governors, Veterans

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) 74th annual homecoming parade on Saturday, November 9th, 2019 will celebrate two treasures dear to APSU hearts: our veterans and the Governors.

The Veterans Homecoming Parade will start at 10:00am at the corner of College and Eighth streets. The parade – which this year combines with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade – is free and open to the public and will have more than 150 entries.

Festivities such as Stache Street and Tailgate Alley will follow the parade, and the 2019 homecoming game – in which the Govs host UT Martin – kicks off at 3:00pm.

The theme for this year’s homecoming celebration is “Govs on Broadway.”

Parade route will be near campus, downtown

The parade route will start at College Street and Eighth Street, heading down College Street toward downtown. From there, the parade will turn left onto University Avenue, then right onto Main Street and left onto Fourth Street. The parade will continue left onto Franklin Street before turning left onto Eighth Street. The parade will end at Jackson Alley and Eighth Street.

Streets along the route will be closed from 9:30am to 11:30am.

Stache Street, Tailgate Alley brings food, fun before the game

Following the parade, Stache Street – a family-friendly block party with food trucks, inflatables and music – will open from noon until just before kickoff. Marion Street in front of Fortera Stadium and the Foy Center and Henry Street beside the stadium will be closed.

The long-standing Divine Nine tailgate celebration will continue along Marion Street, next to Stache Street.

Tailgate Alley in the large parking lot on the home side of Fortera Stadium will open at 11:00am. To reserve a tailgate spot, call 931.221.7904.

The Alumni Tailgate, which is free and open to all alumni and their friends, will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in Tailgate Alley.
