Behind quarterback JaVaughn Craig’s 158-yard rushing performance, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team scored early and often then salted the game away late to stun No. 4 seeded Sacramento State, 42-28, Saturday night in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Division I Football Championship at Hornet Field.

Nashville Predators defeat the New Jersey Devils 6-4

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators put on an offensive performance tonight against the New Jersey Devils, outgunning the visitors, 6-4.  Former Predators P.K Subban and Wayne Simmons made their return to Bridgestone Arena, only to face the wrath of their former teammates in quite a shootout.

Nashville jumped on the Devils early with two quick goals to grab the early advantage.

Daniel Carr put the Predators on the board just 46 seconds into the game, when he deflected a shot from Dan Hamhuis, and netted his first goal of the season, and Nashville was quickly in front, 1-0.

TWRA Announces Application for Grants Directed Toward Hispanic Communities to Engage in Fishing

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is announcing it is accepting grant applications for fishing programs, activities, and classes which bring fishing programs to educate and engage Hispanic communities.

The George H.W. Bush Vamos A Pescar Education Fund was established in 2014 by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF). With the help of generous donations by Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris and other organizations, the fund has continued to grow and expand nationally.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police announce that the 41A bypass has been cleared and reopened.

The 41A Bypass was closed due to an overturned asphalt truck at 1590 Ashland City Road. The 41A Bypass was closed in both directions between Seven Mile Ferry Road and Glendale Drive.

Lamar Alexander says Senate Takes “Big First Step” in Simplifying the FAFSA for 20 Million American Families

 

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Senate education committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) on Thursday, December 5th said “the Senate has taken a big first step in simplifying the FAFSA for 20 million families, including 8 million minority students,” after the Senate passed bipartisan legislation that makes permanent $255 million in annual funding for HBCUs, cuts up to 22 questions from the federal student aid application form (FAFSA), and eliminates bureaucratic verification nightmare for most students.

The bipartisan amendment to the House-passed FUTURE Act is sponsored by Alexander, Senate education committee Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Senators Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Doug Jones (D-Ala.), Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.).

Tennessee Titans last game against Oakland Raiders

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans kicked off the 2017 NFL season with a Week 1 matchup at home against the Oakland Raiders and fell by a score of 26-16. The highly anticipated contest featured the return of Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who each suffered almost identical season-ending injuries in Week 16 of the 2016 season.

The Raiders’ offense came out strong as Carr connected with wide receiver Amari Cooper for an eight-yard touchdown on Oakland’s opening drive.
