Dayton, OH – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis picked up a trio of singles wins against Wright State, but the Governors dropped a close match to the Raiders, 4-3, Saturday at the South Regency Tennis Center.
Kicking off Austin Peay State University’s lone match of the weekend, the Governors dropped the first doubles match of the day, with Oliver Andersson and Thiago Nogueria falling in the No. 3 position.
The Governors got on the board first in singles play, after a dominant performance from Lorino in the No. 5 position tied the match at one. But Wright State retook the lead after the No. 3 singles matchup, which saw Gold fall to the No. 3 player from Wright State.
Trailing by one, Hunter Sanders picked up his first win of the Spring, beating Wright State’s No. 6 and tying the match once again. But once again, the Raiders retook the lead, knocking off Damberg in the No. 2 singles matchup.
Trailing 3-2, Andersson picked up a win in the No. 4 singles matchup to once again tie the match and keep the APSU Governors alive. Tied 3-3, with just the No. 1 singles matchup left to play, Edison dropped the first set, before storming back to take the second set. But Edison dropped a close match in the final set, as Austin Peay State University fell to Wright State.
