APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Coming off one of the most dominant defensive performances in program history, Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team hosts Jacksonville for a “PEAYnk Out” on Saturday, in the Winfield Dunn Center. The tip-off is at 1:00pm.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink as Austin Peay State University supports breast cancer awareness with Saturday’s “PEAYnk Out.”

Austin Peay (15-7, 10-2 ASUN) earned a 77-35 win against North Florida, Thursday, to clinch its first-ever ASUN Tournament berth. The 35 points allowed were the fewest in a conference game and tied for the second-fewest in the modern era of Governors women’s basketball.

Head coach Brittany Young became the first head coach in program history to earn 35 wins in their first two seasons following Thursday’s win against the Ospreys.

Jacksonville (9-13, 3-9 ASUN) is APSU’s seventh of eight first-time opponents this season. The Dolphins are led by Wichita State transfer, Seraphine Bastin, who leads the team with 12.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Austin Peay State University faces its seventh first-time opponent of the season in Jacksonville.

The Dolphins are APSU’s third opponent from the Sunshine State this season. The Govs are 2-0 against Florida teams this season with wins against Stetson and North Florida.

Austin Peay State University clinched a spot in the ASUN Tournament following Thursday’s win against the Ospreys.

The APSU Govs currently sit in a tie with Liberty and Lipscomb for second in the ASUN standings.

APSU can guarantee a top-four seed in the ASUN Tournament and a home playoff game with wins in its next two games.

Austin Peay State University has won 24 straight games when holding opponents to under 50 points and 24 straight games when scoring at least 70.

The APSU Govs lead the ASUN in field-goal percentage defense (.379), free throws made per game (13.9), scoring defense (55.8), and three-point percentage defense (.258). Their 25.8 three-point defense also ranks 12th in Division I this season.

2022-23 Record: 9-13 (3-9 ASUN)

Quick Season Recap: After earning a 74-51 win against North Florida, Jan. 26, the Dolphins have lost four-straight games and are coming off a 61-52 loss at Lipscomb, Thursday. JU is 3-9 in ASUN play and defeated Bellarmine, 77-64, in the ASUN opener before then defeating Queens, Jan. 12. Jacksonville is 1-10 on the road this season with that lone win coming at Presbyterian, Dec. 3. 

2021-22 Record: 16-13 (8-8 ASUN)

2021-22 Season Result: After finishing .500 in ASUN play last season, Jacksonville earned the East Division’s No. 4 seed in the ASUN Tournament. The Dolphins defeated the West Division’s No. 5 seed in Central Arkansas, 65-55, in the first round of the tournament before falling to Jacksonville State, 70-56 in the tournament quarterfinals.

Notable Returner: Shynia Jackson leads all Jacksonville starters with 12.5 points and 6.3 rebounds a night. She is the only Dolphin to have played and started all 22 games this season.

Notable Newcomer: A four-year starter at Wichita State, Seraphine Bastin leads the Dolphins with 12.9 points and 7.7 rebounds a night and is shooting 52.2 percent from the field/.
