Riverfest headlined the issue as summer wound down — Clarksville's longest-running festival on the banks of the Cumberland, the arts-and-recreation celebration that draws tens of thousands to the riverfront each fall.

“A Recess a Day Benefits a Child in More Than One Way” made a research-minded case for unstructured play in children's development and learning — a timely, parent-focused feature as the school year got underway. “New Spring Thrift Store” pointed budget-minded families toward a fresh local shopping option, celebrating the value of secondhand shopping.

The health pages explored fighting tooth decay with xylitol, the tooth-friendly sweetener, and a cosmetic feature on fuller lips. The recurring departments round out a September number that pairs one of the community's biggest celebrations with genuinely useful guidance for growing families as fall arrives and the school year settles in.

The Riverfest coverage laid out the free two-day festival in full: gates Friday, September 10 from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. and again Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with musical and visual art, food, inflatables for the kids, and river-related events like the Regatta and the Lighted Boat Parade along the Cumberland — two nights of free concerts from dozens of local, regional and national performers.
