“Honoring a Teacher's Memory” opened the issue with a heartfelt tribute to an educator whose impact outlasted their years in the classroom — the kind of personal remembrance the magazine handled with genuine care.
“Clarksville: Boom Town” took stock of the city's rapid growth, examining what the surge in population and development meant for the community. In hindsight it reads like an early chapter of a story still unfolding — a magazine documenting its own city in the middle of a transformation that would only accelerate. “Discovering SCUBA with the Water Dogs” brought a splash of adventure, while Riverfest previewed Clarksville's longest-running festival. The health pages helped readers with “Moms Want to Regain Their Shape” and “Oh, My Aching Back.”
The recurring departments round out a September number that holds remembrance, growth and adventure together — honoring the people who shaped the city while reckoning with the rapid change reshaping it, and still finding room for the thrill of exploring an underwater world.
“Honoring a Teacher's Memory” told the story of Coach Katy Watson Over, who took an active role in eighth-grader Skylar Hughes's life as mentor and friend, helping a student with a sight disability build confidence and stand up to bullying. Over's life ended abruptly on September 18, 2011, when she, her husband and three others died of carbon monoxide poisoning while sleeping in an RV at the annual Bikers Who Care Toy Run — a loss that shook the whole community and gave the tribute its ache.
