The issue turned its attention to the businesses and institutions that give Clarksville its character. Among them were Barbee's Studio of Photography — a longtime local studio whose work would appear across the magazine's pages for years — and Betsy's Quiltin' Barn, a gathering place for the area's quilters and crafters.
“Clarksville Montessori Children's House” introduced families to the Montessori method, giving parents a close look at one of the schooling options open to the community's youngest learners. “Beyond the Books” extended the education theme, encouraging families to treat learning as something broader than the classroom.
The recurring departments and photo pages fill out a January number that opens the year by celebrating the fabric of the community itself — the particular people and places that serve it. Between a photography studio, a quilters' haven and a Montessori house, the issue captures the homegrown businesses, craftspeople and schools that give Clarksville its distinctive character, and quietly invites readers to appreciate and support the institutions they might otherwise pass every day.
