The cover feature, “The Unexpected Chords of Motherhood,” brought a lyrical Mother's Day tribute to the surprises and rhythms of raising children, complemented by “Things Your Mom Told You That” turned out to be true — a warm nod to maternal wisdom.

“May Brings Three Military Observances” honored the significance of the month for a military community, marking the days set aside to recognize service and sacrifice. “Healthy Kids: Recognizing Obesity in Your Child” gave parents practical, compassionate guidance on a serious and sensitive health issue, while the First Tee of Clarksville spotlighted the youth golf program teaching character through the game and “About Military Marriage” continued the magazine's attention to service families.

The recurring departments round out a May number that honors mothers, the military and children's health in equal measure — a city that honors its own and cares for its next generation in the very same breath as summer approaches.

“The Unexpected Chords of Motherhood” found 24-year-old Channing watching her sleeping daughter, the fears of one day in a doctor's office — “your baby has Down syndrome” — now a fading dream, given way to the ordinary, hard-won grace of raising the child she loved. Elsewhere the issue introduced TACTIX, a new local fitness program blending boot camp, self-defense and martial arts, and “Things Your Mom Told You That” turned out, in the end, to be true.
