The cover feature previewed the Liberty Live! Concert Series with Nick Riggins, spotlighting the summer music program that brings live performance to Liberty Park — a highlight of the Clarksville summer calendar.
“Red, White and Food — Wine in Grocery Stores” examined a change with real everyday impact, as Tennessee grocery shelves began stocking wine — a convenience many Clarksville shoppers had come to want. “Butterflying for Your Backyard” invited readers to cultivate a garden that draws the season's most delicate visitors, and “Dogs — They Keep Us Balanced” celebrated the family pet. The issue also dug into local Civil War history with the story of the Battle of Riggins Hill. The health pages met the heat with “Fun in the Sun — Or Defeat in the Heat?” and “Thirsty for Hydration.”
The recurring departments round out a July number built for the heart of a Clarksville summer — live music, wine newly on grocery shelves, a butterfly-friendly backyard and a steadying dog, all while making sure no one forgets to drink enough water.
The Liberty Live! headliner carried a name older than the concert. More than a century after his ancestors defended their land at Riggins Hill, musician Nick Riggins would take the Liberty Park stage on July 23rd at 4:00 p.m., sponsored by the City's Parks and Recreation Department. Don't let the cowboy hat, the tobacco-farming roots and the dirt-road-boy look fool you, the feature warned of a performer who had traveled long and wide before coming home to sing.
