“Don't Lose Sleep” opened with a familiar scene — lying awake counting the items on tomorrow's to-do list instead of sheep — and offered help for readers whose rest keeps slipping away.

The APSU Military Resource Center feature spotlighted why Austin Peay is Tennessee's top college choice for military-connected students, detailing the support system that helps service members, veterans and their families succeed in the classroom. “BMX Boy Wonder” was a nostalgic local profile: when local business owner John Lachowicz was a kid in the late 1970s and early 1980s, BMX was everything, and the feature traced that boyhood passion into the entrepreneur he became. A profile of the Ebenezer Salvadorian Restaurant brought international flavor, and a feature on Buddy Ball highlighted the program that builds young athletes' self-esteem.

The recurring departments round out a March number that moves easily from personal health to public service to the stories of the people who give Clarksville its character — the reader chasing better sleep, the veteran finding support at Austin Peay, the entrepreneur who never outgrew his BMX bike.

“Don't Lose Sleep” opened on a familiar 2 a.m. scene — counting not sheep but the items on tomorrow's to-do list. It takes more than a morning coffee to recover from too little sleep, the feature warned: while you rest, the body repairs damaged tissue, secretes hormones and consolidates the day's experiences into long-term memory. Skimp on it and both mind and body suffer — and, at the chemical level, a sleep-deprived body churns out extra ghrelin, the hunger hormone that has you reaching for a sugary pick-me-up.
