The recurring Pet Corner turned to cats, with guidance for anyone considering a kitten.
The recurring departments round out a September number that balances a cold pint, a laugh at the stars and a clear-eyed guide to a school year no one had planned for — the magazine's signature mix of levity and substance, capturing a city refusing to let a hard autumn flatten its spirit.
The Gladiator Brewing feature got into the craft. At 214 Tiny Town Road, different styles take anywhere from a month to a full year to finish, and the brewery doesn't force-carbonate anything — “We let beers carbonate naturally,” Pradke explained. The payoff, by the Pradkes' account, is in the drinking: customers say the beers don't leave them feeling full, but rather light and pleasant, with flavors that hold up better. It takes a little customer education — people ask why the beer is different, and the Pradkes are happy to explain — but the response, they said, had been fantastic, a welcome bright spot in a hard year for gathering places.
