“Let's Talk Turkey” opened onto Operation Stand Down Tennessee, which supports some of the most important members of the community — its military veterans. OSDTN began its work in Tennessee in 1993 as a crisis-response group, and the feature spotlighted an organization whose mission carries special weight in a town shaped by Fort Campbell.

“Gratitude” captured the emotional heart of the season. With Thanksgiving around the corner, many families planned to gather again after being unable to the year before because of the pandemic — the feature reflected on the simple, newly precious pleasures of good food and time together that 2020 had put out of reach. “Vintage Clarksville: A Plethora of Parades” marched through the city's long tradition of public celebration, a fitting subject as the holiday parade season approached.

The recurring departments round out a November issue built around gratitude in its fullest sense: for the veterans the community owes so much, for the families able to gather again, and for the traditions that carry a city through the years — a warm, grounded lead-in to the holidays.

“Let's Talk Turkey” opened onto Operation Stand Down Tennessee, which began its work in 1993 as a crisis-response group reacting to the large number of homeless veterans across the state, and now supports some of the community's most important members. The companion “Gratitude” feature caught the season's particular poignancy: with Thanksgiving near, many families were planning to gather again after being unable to the year before because of the pandemic, looking forward, after everything the COVID crisis had put them through, to good food and time with the people they love.
