Austin Peay State University Student-Athletes finish fall semester with record 3.110 GPA

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – An impressive fall semester for Austin Peay State University’s student athletes translated into the classroom with the department’s varsity teams posting a record 3.110 grade-point average for the Fall 2017 semester.

The department saw a record 204 student-athletes receive academic recognition during the recently concluded fall semester. Records also fell with the total number of athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll (97), earning Austin Peay dean’s list recognition (107) and posting a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester (51).

APSU Women's VolleyballLos Angeles, CA – Senior Ashley Slay posted five blocks, setting an Austin Peay State University volleyball tournament and career record, but it wasn’t enough in a three-set loss (25-10, 25-13, 25-15) to No. 17 UCLA in the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship’s first round at Pauley Pavilion.

APSU Athlete of the Week Brooke Moore

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Freshman outside hitter Brooke Moore, of the Austin Peay State University football team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Louisville native led Austin Peay to its first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title since 2010, leading the tournament with 48 kills and posting a .305 attack percentage in contests against Southeast Missouri, Eastern Kentucky and Murray State. In the process, she became the first freshman in league history to take tournament MVP honors.

APSU rallies to beat Murray State and win OVC Volleyball Championship Title

 

Austin Peay Volleyball NCAA Tournament Bound

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team rallied from behind two games to one down and 16-15 in the fourth set to defeat Murray State 3-2 to win its third Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title in program history and earn the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The Govs also won tournament titles in 2010 and 1992, with the 2010 squad being the other APSU team to make an NCAA Tournament field.

Top-seeded APSU Governors sweep Southeast Missouri to reach OVC Volleyball Tournament semifinals

 

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team only needed 74 minutes to sweep Southeast Missouri Thursday, November 16th, 2017 at the Dunn Center, in the quarterfinal round of the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Championship by scores of 25-18, 25-19, 25-13.

It was the only one of the four OVC quarterfinal round matches that needed just three games to decide things.

With the win, Austin Peay moves to 28-5 on the season, tying the 1992 Govs volleyball team for most wins in a single season, while the eighth-seeded Redhawks sees their season come to an end with an overall mark of 11-20.

APSU Volleyball clinches share of OVC Title with three set win over Southeast Missouri

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – In the 25th anniversary season of its first Ohio Valley Conference regular season title, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team clinched a share of the 2017 crown with a three-set sweep (25-13, 25-10, 25-23) of Southeast Missouri, Saturday, at the Winfield Dunn Center.

Austin Peay (26-14, 13-1 OVC) also clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming OVC Volleyball Championship which will be held at Austin Peay, November 16th-18th, in the Dunn Center. Full tournament details will be made available once the entire field is set.
