Nashville Predators fall to the San Jose Sharks 2-1

Nashville PredatorsSan Jose, CA – The Nashville Predators managed to squeeze a point out of tonight’s loss to the San Jose Sharks, losing 2-1 in regulation.  The game went to a shoot-out where Timo Meier, in his first shoot-out appearance, slipped one over the shoulder of Juuse Saros for the win.

Nashville entered tonight’s game wondering how they would recover from the embarrassing loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, 9-4, but hit the ice determined to play Predators hockey.  This is the third of four road games for the Predators, as they wrap this road trip up in Vancouver on Tuesday night.

Nashville Predators dominate the Detroit Red Wings 6-1

Nashville PredatorsDetroit, MI – The Nashville Predators totally dominated the Detroit Red Wings tonight, exploding for five goals in the second period, to get an important road win, 6-1.

The Red Wings have had Nashville’s number, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams, but tonight, the Predators were able to chase starting goalie Jimmy Howard with a flurry of goals in the second period.

Detroit got on the board first at 2:35 of the opening period when Andreas Althanasiou took a pass from Filip Hronek to beat Pekka Rinne on the short side for the early 1-0 lead.  As it turns out, that would be the only marker of the night for the Red Wings.

Nashville Predators defeat the Colorado Avalanche 4-1, Laviolette notches 600th

Nashville PredatorsDenver, CO– The Nashville Predators broke through with a much needed win today in the mile high city of Denver, Colorado, shutting down the Avalanche, 4-1.

Coming off of back to back losses, the Predators stood tall behind the unbelievable play of their Vicenza Trophy winning goalie, Pekka Rinne.

Rinne absolutely shut the Avalanche down in the first period and had it not been for his stellar play, Nashville could have easily been down 5-0.

Head coach Peter Laviolette had commented that he saw a lot of good things in his team over the last couple of games, but they needed to come better prepared to start the first period.  Nashville fell behind early in the last two games and couldn’t recover.
