Tennessee Department of Economic and Community DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced Thursday, October 2nd, 2019, the 59 counties that will receive ThreeStar grants.

In total, TNECD is awarding $2.4 million in funding to Tennessee communities through this round of the ThreeStar grant program.

LG Electronics unveils $360 Million Dollar Home Appliance Factory in Clarksville Tennessee

 

LG ElectronicsClarksville, TN – Today, May 29th, 2019, LG Electronics held a ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil its new million-square-foot home appliance manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tennessee, where the company is now producing its top-rated washing machines* for the U.S. market.

The $360 million factory, believed to be the most advanced, integrated washing machine production plant in the world, already employs more than 550 American workers who are supporting continued production ramp-up – helping to accelerate delivery of LG’s innovative home appliances to better meet U.S. consumer demand.

Manufacturer to invest $10 million to expand production capabilities in Weakley County

MTD is Weakley County’s largest private employer and a leading global manufacturer and distributor of residential and commercial outdoor power equipment under brands such as Cub Cadet and Troy-Bilt. The company plans to create 200 jobs in Weakley County as it adds production at the Martin facility.

Hearing sets stage for potential sanctions in trade dispute

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan testified Wednesday to the Office of the United States Trade Representative in support of LG Electronics Inc., a South Korean manufacturer that broke ground in August 2017 on a $250 million appliance plant in Clarksville.

“I respectfully ask the Trump Administration not to impose any measures that will interfere with the expedited implementation of LG’s investment in Tennessee,” Mayor McMillan told trade commissioners.
