Cookeville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team earned its first Ohio Valley Conference win in dramatic fashion, surviving an overtime thriller 87-84 on the road at Tennessee Tech, Thursday, in the Eblen Center.
The Governors led by seven with one minute remaining in regulation, helped by a clutch three-pointer by junior guard Bri Williams to extend the gap.

The Govs are seeking their first conference win following narrow losses to Morehead State and Belmont – the only teams to open 2-0 in OVC play.

Clarksville, TN – Four players finished in double figures for the Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team, Saturday, helping put together another strong fourth quarter performance in an 80-71 loss to Belmont in the Dunn Center.
The Govs shot 42 percent or better in all four periods, including a 56 percent clip in the second quarter.

The Governors finished the nonconference schedule at 6-7, featuring key victories over Division I foes Arkansas State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, East Tennessee and Kennesaw State.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s fall sports maybe in the middle of their respective Ohio Valley Conference seasons, but it’s not too early to look forward to winter and basketball season, with the Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams beginning preseason practice.
As both teams enter the up-coming season they will have big questions to answer, with the Govs looking to return to the postseason for the first time since the 2011-12 season, while the Lady Govs enter the season with a new head coach in David Midlick, who takes over for Carrie Daniels, who had led the women’s team for the past nine seasons.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s athletic department looked like it was close to filling its’ final open positions, as the calendar neared July, but the last days of June into the first days of July saw two coaches leave the department.
The first was Lady Govs head softball coach Stephanie Paris, who informed interim athletics director Cheryl Holt on June 28th that she was stepping down from her position that she had held for three seasons to go into private industry.

Clarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University announced the hiring of David Midlick as the new women’s basketball coach this past week that was the easy part of trying to return the Lady Govs back to being a force in the OVC …now the hard work begins.
Midlick inherits a team that has several solid to outstanding parts, but also a team that struggled to play up to their talent levels over extended games or even minutes in a single game.
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school, is proud to announce Carrie Daniels as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach.
Jerri Bragg will continue to be a part of the girls basketball program and team serving in the capacity of Assistant Coach. Bragg will also continue to be the Head Cross Country Coach.
