Montreal, Quebec – The Nashville Predators have found themselves back in the hunt for a wild-card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a big win tonight over the Montreal Canadians, 4-2.
Facing their former captain, Shea Weber, Nashville used an explosive second period to grab the win, but then had to fend off a furious Canadians attack in the third period for the win.
Led by Filip Forsberg, who continues his hot play, the Predators would take a 4-0 lead after period two. Forsberg had two goals and an assist on the night.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators got a much needed win tonight against the visiting Dallas Stars, 2-0. The slumping Predators needed the two points in their quest to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Filip Forsberg finally broke through from his scoring drought with the first goal of the night, and the eventual game winner. At 19:07 of the opening frame, Forsberg ripped a wrist shot from inside the circle that deflected off of Stars goaltender Anton Khudobin for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their winning streak come to an end tonight against the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2, on a controversial call late in the game that would have tied the score, 2-2.
Nashville’s Colin Blackwell was called for goaltender interference with about three minutes remaining, after the Predators scored the game tying goal, and the goal was waved off by officials.
The replay showed that Blackwell was pushed into the goalie after the puck was in the back of the net, but the referees chose to wave off the goal and call the penalty on Blackwell.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators fought back from the brink of death tonight to defeat the Calgary Flames in an absolute “barn burner,” 4-3.
Mikael Granlund was the hero tonight with two point, including the game tying and game winning goals, to defeat their conference rivals. Both teams are battling for points to stay in the playoff race, and tonight was Nashville’s night.
Colton Sissons started the scoring for the Predators at 19:28 of the opening frame, taking a feed from Colin Blackwell and firing the “one timer” to beat David Rittich of the Flames for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators picked off the Ottawa Senators tonight at Bridgestone Arena and gathered up two valuable points in the process, 3-2.
Nashville, trying to fight their way into the wild card race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, used the power play to their advantage, and held off a decimated Senators squad for the win.
Ottawa drew first blood though in this one, as Thomas Chabot scored at 4:53 of the opening period, grabbing a loose puck from the circle and beat Juuse Saros in net for the Predators for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The struggles of the Nashville Predators continued tonight as the visiting Chicago Blackhawks extracted a bit of revenge with a 7-2 beat down of the Predators.
Struggles in net for Nashville continue as Pekka Rinne yielded 4 goals by the second period and was pulled for Juuse Saros who didn’t fare much better, giving up three goals before the night was done.
Rinne had gotten off to an 8-0-2 start to the season but has had trouble stopping shots since the recent road trip. Saros hasn’t performed much better in what was expected to be a break-out season for him.
San Jose, CA – The Nashville Predators managed to squeeze a point out of tonight’s loss to the San Jose Sharks, losing 2-1 in regulation. The game went to a shoot-out where Timo Meier, in his first shoot-out appearance, slipped one over the shoulder of Juuse Saros for the win.
Nashville entered tonight’s game wondering how they would recover from the embarrassing loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday night, 9-4, but hit the ice determined to play Predators hockey. This is the third of four road games for the Predators, as they wrap this road trip up in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
Denver, CO – The Nashville Predators suffered one of the most humiliating losses tonight at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, 9-4. The nine goals against is a franchise record for the Predators in their NHL history.
In a game that, on paper at least, is one that Nashville was expected to win, it was just the opposite as the Avs put the pressure on Nashville right from the start.
With a back up goalie and several of their top line stars out of the line-up, Colorado played like a team on a mission to prove that they could play without their high dollar players, and they did.
Detroit, MI – The Nashville Predators totally dominated the Detroit Red Wings tonight, exploding for five goals in the second period, to get an important road win, 6-1.
The Red Wings have had Nashville’s number, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams, but tonight, the Predators were able to chase starting goalie Jimmy Howard with a flurry of goals in the second period.
Detroit got on the board first at 2:35 of the opening period when Andreas Althanasiou took a pass from Filip Hronek to beat Pekka Rinne on the short side for the early 1-0 lead. As it turns out, that would be the only marker of the night for the Red Wings.
Nashville, TN – A disappointing day in Smashville today as the visiting Colorado Avalanche muscled their way through the Nashville Predators, 5-0.
This is the final regular season meeting between the two teams, and the Predators were just outmatched from start to finish.
It wasn’t that the Predators didn’t have plenty of opportunity with 38 shots on goal, it’s just that they couldn’t get the puck in the net. Philipp Grubauer stood tall in net for the Avs, who beat the Chicago Blackhawks last night.
