City of Clarksville search for new Fire Chief begins

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has outlined the process the City will use to recruit a successor to Clarksville Fire Rescue Chief Michael Roberts, who announced in January that he will retire July 31st, 2019 after 20 years in the position.

“This will be the first department head search for my administration,” Mayor Pitts said. “Without a doubt, this will be an important hire, and one we will not take lightly.”

DUI Memorial Sign Program Legislation Advances

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – House Bill 21, sponsored by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) was successful in passing the Transportation Full Committee and now moves on to the Finance sub-Committee. This legislation is known as the Shadow “Shada” Brooke Lowe bill.

This legislation will allow families of victims of impaired drivers, where the impaired driver was also killed, to have a sign erected in memory of the family member. It is to be heard in the Finance Sub-committee on February 22nd.

“It was fitting this legislation was approved by the committee on February 14th, Shada’s 24th birthday,” Pitts said. “Her mother said even though February 14th was a tough day, the idea of some sort of justice for her really helps.”

Clarksville Firefighter’s Association to give away smoke detectors

 

Clarksville, TN – No home should be without smoke detectors and that’s why local firefighters are making every effort to ensure that everybody has one.

The Clarksville Firefighter’s Association local #3180, will be hosting a smoke detector giveaway on Saturday, February 22nd at Governors Square Mall.  The event is from 10:00am-2:00pm.

Firefighters encourage anyone who is without smoke detectors, or knows a family or household that is without, to come to this event and get one while they last.

Clarksville Firefighters giving away Smoke Detectors

 

Clarksville Firefighters AssociationClarksville TN – The Clarksville Firefighters Association is conducting their annual smoke detector give-away, providing life saving devices to those in need this holiday season. The Firefighters Association is working with Manna Cafe Ministries to reach the most people in need.

They held their first event Thursday night, and will be at the Vacation Motel located in New Providence at 650 Providence Boulevard next Tuesday night December 11th from 5:00pm-6:00pm

Clarksville Firefighters Association donates John Michael Montgomery and Bucky Covington Tickets to Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Clarksville

 

Clarksville, TNClarksville Firefighters Association Local 3180 presented 70 tickets to their upcoming fundraising concert featuring John Michael Montgomery and Bucky Covington to Amy Carroll of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Clarksville.

The concert is at 8:00 p.m. on October 20th and features country music superstar John Michael Montgomery; as well as Bucky Covington, who finished eighth during the fifth season of American Idol. “I kid people all the time and I say if you got married in the 90’s there probably was a John Michael Montgomery song playing at your wedding,” said David Kirkland the president of Firefighters Local 3180.

City of Clarksville Accepts Automated External Defibrillator from the Clarksville Firefighters Association for Heritage Park

 

IAFF LogoClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Firefighters Association yesterday donated a $1,500 Cardiac Science Powerheart G3 Plus Automated External Defibrillator (AED), along with a special alarm equipped enclosure to the City of Clarksville’s Department of Parks & Recreation for installation in Heritage Park. Mayor Kim McMillian, Clarksville Parks and Recreation Director Mark Tummons, and Deputy Director Kevin Cowling accepted the device from the Clarksville Association of Firefighters president David Kirkland and Treasurer Donnie Kazee; on behalf of the city .

This particular AED was chosen by the Clarksville Firefighters Association, because it accepts special pediatric defibrillation pads which cause the device to deliver a safer reduced charge when used on children up to 8 years old or up to 55 pounds body weight; a Long-Life lithium battery with a 4-year replacement guarantee, and a 7 Year Warranty on the device.
