Great niece of hospital’s namesake visits Fort Campbell’s Blanchfield Army Community Hospital

 

Blanchfield Army Hospital - BACH - Fort Campbell KYFort Campbell, KY – The great niece of Col. Florence Blanchfield, Vicki Blanchfield, visited Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in late April for the first time since its opening in September 1982.

Col. Telita Crosland, hospital commander, provided a tour for Blanchfield and her husband who were visiting Tennessee for a family reunion in Nashville. Traveling from their home in Orlando, FL, the two decided to extend their travel a day to visit the hospital and tour the facility.

101st Airborne Division “Strike” spouses bring Performance Triad home

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) held a “spark your inner fire” workshop, September 30th, at the Family Resource Center here.

The event aimed to educate Strike Family Members on the Performance Triad, an Army-wide initiative to ensure Soldiers and their families are provided tools and information to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Started in 2013 by the U.S. Army Medical Command, the performance triad aims to optimize performance by emphasizing the importance of three components – sleep, activity and nutrition.

Fort Campbell, KY – The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), is one of five brigades in the Army selected to participate in the performance triad pilot program, an Army-wide initiative to ensure Soldiers and their families are provided tools and information to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Started in 2013 by the U.S. Army Medical Command, the performance triad aims to optimize performance by emphasizing the importance of three components – sleep, activity and nutrition. The components of the triad have a significant impact on the readiness and resiliency of the Army’s work force.

U.S. Special Operations Command stresses preservation of Force

U.S. Special Operations CommandWashington, D.C. – To combat the demands on the nation’s special operations forces, U.S. Special Operations Command has made its Preservation of the Force and Family initiative a priority, the program’s director said September 17th.

Speaking at the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Resilience Summit in Falls Church, Virginia, Navy Capt. Thomas Chaby said the program for the joint command’s 67,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines centers on prevention by building resilience and giving troops the tools and strategies they need to navigate combat’s challenges. «Read the rest of this article»
