Clarksville High School WildcatsServall Termite & Pest ControlClarksville, TN – For the third straight year Clarksville High School and Franklin High School have met in the state-playoff sectional round – with each coming away with a 2-1 victory over the other.

Well no such nailbiter — or heartbreak — this year for the Lady Wildcats, as CHS scored three first-half goals, October 25th at Hilda J. Richardson Athletic Field, on their way to a 4-1 victory over the Lady Rebels and punching their ticket to the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament.

Rossview’s soccer season comes to an end with loss to Hendersonville in Region 5-AAA semifinals

 

Rossview High School HawksHendersonville, TN – Rossview High School’s soccer team saw its season come to an end, October 20th at Drake Creek Park’s Field of Dreams, with a 6-2 loss to District 9-AAA champion Hendersonville High School.

The Lady Hawks (8-6-1) had trailed 3-0 at one point in the first half, but cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 50th minute on a goal by Kayla Grimes.

The two goals by Rossview were the most given up by Hendersonville since it gave up six goals versus Franklin High School on September 25th.

Slamfest 2013 Midday Recap: Hosts Clarksville Among Pool Winners

 

Clarksville, TN – The William Workman Gymnasium at Clarksville High School echoed with the the distinct “thud” of bodies hitting rubber floor mats, coaches yelling instructions and the constant whistle of multiple referees early Saturday morning because of Slamfest 2013, the annual wrestling meet hosted by the Wildcats.

This year wrestling teams from 13 schools participated in the event, including West Creek, Northwest, Rossview and Fort Campbell. The teams were divided into four different pools and the matches commenced at 9:00am.

Clarksville High School Wildcats Lose Nail-Biter to Franklin Rebels 43-42

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – As the final seconds of the game ran of the clock, Clarksville High Wildcat Derek Suiter launched a 3-pointer to win the game, but it hit the rim and the Franklin High Rebels pulled down the rebound to win the game 43-42.

The game was a fast paced, back and forth battle that was tied 28-28 after three periods. Franklin Rebel Ben Hagaman scored 6 straight points at the beginning of the 4th period to give the Rebels a 34-28 lead.

Clarksville High School Lady Wildcats tamed at Home by Franklin High Lady Rebels 46-22

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Turnovers put the Clarksville High Lady Wildcats in a hole they could not dig out of. They lost at home to the Franklin High Lady Rebels 46-22, Thursday evening.

The Lady Wildcats had trouble escaping the Lady Rebels traps. They turned the ball over 14 times in the first half and had trouble converting on the few shot attempts they made.

Conversely, the Lady Rebels moved the ball well, using the constant passes to find gaps in the Lady Wildcats defense, wear them down and control the clock.

Clarksville High School Wildcats see fourth-quarter lead slip away in Hall of Fame Game loss to Beech

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School boys basketball team picked a bad time to go almost two and a half minutes without a field goal, November 12th at William Workman Gymnasium, as Beech High School rallied for a four-point Hall of Fame Game victory over the Wildcats, 57-53.

Leading 46-45 following a basket by Tariq Silver with 4:07 to go in the game, Clarksville High (0-1) wouldn’t score again for the next 2:26, while the Buccaneers hit four of five free throws over that stretch to take the lead for good, 49-46.

Clarksville High School Lady Wildcats buried under early Beech 3’s in Hall of Fame Game loss

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s girls basketball team got into an early hole, November 12th in its Hall of Fame Game versus Beech High School at William Workman Gymnasium and never recovered, as the Lady Bucs hit five first-quarter, three-point field goals to its way to a 57-40 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Falon Baker would hit four – all in a row — of the five first-quarter 3’s, as she led the way to the Lady Bucs (1-0) a 14-2 run over the final 3:25 of the opening quarter to break open a 8-7 advantage out to a 22-9 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Franklin High Lady Rebels defeat Clarksville High Lady Wildcats 2-1, Advance to State

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – The battle to advance to State between the Clarksville High Lady Wildcats ( 19-3-2) and the Franklin Lady Rebels (16-2-5) in sectional soccer play Saturday night at Hilda J. Richardson field came down to one kick … and Lady Rebel Liza Hardin made it.

In the 75th minute, the score was tied 1-1 and the Lady Rebels executed a corner kick. The kick was well placed in front of the Lady Wildcats goal, but the defenders were able to deflect it from the net. However, the Lady Wildcats failed to gain control of the ball deep in their own territory.

Clarksville High School Soccer wins Region 5-AAA title with historic win over Hendersonville

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsHendersonville, TN – For years good girls high school soccer teams from Clarksville had all suffered the same fate when traveling to Hendersonville High School to play the Commandos on their home field – a loss.

Well that all ended October 23rd in the final of the Region 5-AAA tournament, as the Clarksville High School Lady Wildcats thumped Hendersonville 8-2 to win its second consecutive region title.

Tommy Badon named new Clarksville High School Wrestling Coach

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – In looking for its third head wrestling coach in as many seasons, Clarksville High School turned to a familiar face to local prep wrestling fans, with Tommy Badon moving from former district rival Dickson County High School to take charge of the successful program.

Along with having coached against the Wildcats for several seasons, Badon has personal ties to the school, with his father being a former assistant principle at CHS in the middle to late 1970’s before moving to Franklin, TN and becoming an administrator in the Franklin Special School District.
