Clarksville High School Lady Wildcats buried under early Beech 3’s in Hall of Fame Game loss

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s girls basketball team got into an early hole, November 12th in its Hall of Fame Game versus Beech High School at William Workman Gymnasium and never recovered, as the Lady Bucs hit five first-quarter, three-point field goals to its way to a 57-40 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Falon Baker would hit four – all in a row — of the five first-quarter 3’s, as she led the way to the Lady Bucs (1-0) a 14-2 run over the final 3:25 of the opening quarter to break open a 8-7 advantage out to a 22-9 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Baker would finish the game with six 3’s overall and a game-high 26 points.

Clarksville High (0-1) would open the second quarter with back-to-back baskets from Haley Bearden and J.K Cummings to cut the deficit back under 10 points, 22-13 with 6:30 left in the first half, but that would be as close as the Lady Wildcats would get the rest of the night.

Beech would close out the first half by outscoring Clarksville High 14-6 over the final 6:19, including Barker’s fifth three of the first half at the 4:27 mark of the quarter.

In the second half, both teams would struggle to put points on the board in the third quarter, as the two teams combined for nine total points in the period.

The Lady Bucs would score the first three on a bucket by Deja Smith and one-of-two free throws by McKenna Taylor to go up 20, 39-19 with 5:07 left in the third, before Clarksville High would score its only points in the quarter on back-to-back 3’s by Ke’Oshea Deaver to cut the Lady Bucs lead back to 14, 39-25, heading into the final eight minutes of play.

Deaver would lead Clarksville High with 13 points.

In the final quarter, Clarksville High would get to as close as 13 points, 41-28, on a three-point play by Bearden with 6:18 left, but Beech put any hopes of a comeback to rest with a 8-0 run midway through the quarter to go back up 21 points, 49-28, with 4:12 left.

Bearden would finish with 12 points for CHS, while TaTayana Outlaw added 10 points for the Lady Wildcats before fouling out.

Clarksville High returns to action November 14th, as they host Franklin High School in a Hall of Fame Game matchup.
