Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Fifty-two APSU Governors athletes were scheduled to participate in Austin Peay State University’s 88th Spring Commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at the Winfield Dunn Center.

Vice chair of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Emily Reynolds gave the keynote address.

180 APSU Athletes earn Fall Semester Academic Honors

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For the fourth consecutive semester, more than half of Austin Peay State University’s athletes received academic recognition following the recently concluded spring semester.

The department saw 180 athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll, each earning a minimum 3.0 grade-point average during the semester. That amounted to more than 53 percent of the department’s near-record 335 athletes earning academic recognition from the department.

It is the fourth consecutive semester the department has seen more than 50 percent of its athletes post a 3.0 or better GPA.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Govs have baker’s dozen graduate at Winter Commencement

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Athletic Department had 13 former and current student athletics participate in the schools December 9th Winter Commencement ceremonies, held in the Dunn Center.

The 13 Govs that picked up their degrees were spread out over seven teams; with football leading the way with five, followed by baseball (3) and volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s golf all having one graduate.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors Football is ready to start fresh with start of spring practice

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will open its first spring practice under new head coach Will Healy, March 21st, with what hopes to be the next step in getting the program out of the second division of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Over the next 34 days, culminating with the Red and White Game on April 23rd, Healy and his staff will have a lot of their plate.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – The last few minutes of the first half have not been kind to Austin Peay State University football in recent weeks, a trend that continued in the Governors 40-16 loss to Eastern Illinois, Saturday.

Trailing 20-10 with just under five minutes remaining in the first half and coming off a 74-yard touchdown run from Austin Peay’s Kendall Morris that electrified the home crowd on a dreary afternoon, Eastern Illinois marched down the field on a four-play, 66-yard drive that concluded on 31-yard touchdown pass from Jalen Whitlow to Isaiah Nelson.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University football was picked ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference by a vote of the conference coaches and sports information directors announced Monday at the annual OVC Media Day.

Defending champion Jacksonville State was the top preseason choice for a second straight year, picking up 16 of 18 first-place votes and 128 points total.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – With a handful of practices in the books, Austin Peay State University football team will take the field to scrimmage for the first time this spring, noon, Saturday, at Governors Stadium.

After a 2014 spring interrupted by stadium construction, the Govs have enjoyed excellent weather and a more tranquil Governors Stadium this spring, giving coaches and players a calmer ground upon which to hone their craft.
