Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) football takes to the road for the final time in 2018 when it travels to Eastern Illinois to take on the Panthers, 1:00pm, Saturday, November 10th.
The Governors (4-5, 2-4 OVC) play their first road game since traveling to Southeast Missouri, October 13th.
Austin Peay State University to induct Jeff Bibb, Ricky Cooksey into APSU Governors Club Red Coat Society, February 24th

Clarksville, TN – Jeff Bibb and Ricky Cooksey have been longtime Austin Peay Athletics supporters and for the most part they have done so from two different approaches.
Bibb’s support has been more from the development and philanthropic standpoint while Cooksey’s has been of the more service nature, not that both haven’t provided respective support from the other’s methodologies.
They will become the 38th and 39th members of the Red Coat Society, APSU athletics’ Hall of Fame of service, officially being inducted at halftime of the Govs men’s basketball game, February 24th, against Murray State.
Former Austin Peay State University star athlete, coach and athletic director George Fisher passes away

Clarksville, TN – The man known as “Coach” to many and mentor to many others has passed away.
Dr. George Fisher, who was associated with the Austin Peay athletics program from 1946-77 as a star Austin Peay player, standout coach and later as athletics director, died Saturday night. He was 90 years old.
Born July 9th, 1924, the Greenbrier, TN native came to Austin Peay in the mid-1940s and really never left, being involved with APSU and APSU athletics literally for the rest of his life.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team will need to be “Gov Strong” when it plays host to Tennessee State, 4:00pm, Saturday, in Governors Stadium.
It will be a “Gov Strong Homecoming” as APSU not only celebrates its homecoming but Military Appreciation Day as well.
Former APSU Football players John Ogles, Harold “Red” Roberts on College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Irving, TX – John Ogles and Harold “Red” Roberts, the only two Austin Peay State University football players to have their respective jerseys retired, are on the 2015 Divisional Player ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame.
That has been announced by The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame. In total, 87 players and 25 coaches are on the ballot from the divisional ranks while 75 players and six coaches are on the Football Bowl Subdivision ballot.
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Foundation has selected 10 new members for 2014.

Cookeville, TN – In its season finale, Austin Peay’s football team still has something to play for – the coveted Sgt. York Trophy.
The Govs remain in contention for the in-state trophy, needing a win against Tennessee Tech, 1:00pm, Saturday, in order to bring the trophy to Clarksville for the first time.
The Golden Eagles, meanwhile, are in a similar situation. Heading into the final regular-season weekend, Tennessee Tech is on the verge of their first Ohio Valley Conference football championship since 1975.

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday’s game with Central State will be Senior Day. It marks the last home performance for eight Govs’ seniors: safety Amius Smith, running back Ryan White, wide receiver Scott Thomas, offensive lineman Devon McVea, offensive tackle James Barker, offensive tackle James Washington, center Tim Schmid and long snapper Nick Newsome.
The 19-10 loss to Eastern Illinois was APSU’s fourth straight loss. Austin Peay is amidst its fourth straight season in which it has lost three or more games.

Clarksville, TN – This will be Austin Peay’s 67th homecoming–”Jurassic Peay” the theme–with the Govs owning a 28-37-1 record in those events. After winning homecoming games in both 2007 and 2008, the Govs have lost the last two homecomings, including a 34-21 defeat to Tennessee Tech a year ago. APSU has won just seven homecoming games in the past 24 years.
This is Austin Peay’s third of three homecomings in October. On October 8th, the Govs lost at UT Martin, 61-23. Last week the Govs lost 17-13 at Southeast Missouri. The 17-13 loss to Southeast Missouri was APSU’s third straight loss, making it four
