UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 23/25 Tennessee Lady Vols basketball will play its second straight top-10 opponent, as No. 8/8 Mississippi State comes to Knoxville for a 5:32pm CT encounter on Thursday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

This will mark the 44th meeting in a series that began in 1986, with Tennessee leading 37-6. The Lady Vols will try to snap a three-game losing streak to the Bulldogs as well as a three-game home court skid to MSU.

Thursday’s match-up will offer a tussle between the SEC’s second-place team, Mississippi State, and the Lady Vols, who stand alone in third place a game ahead of Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU and Texas A&M.

Tennessee Vols roll to 76-54 win over Mississippi State

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsStarkville, MS – No. 16 Tennessee went to one of the toughest environments in the SEC and dominated Mississippi State, 76-54, in Humphrey Coliseum on Tuesday night.
 
Coming off a career performance Saturday at Ole Miss, Admiral Schofield played lights out once again, finishing with 24 points and seven boards to lead the Vols (22-7, 12-5 SEC). The win guaranteed Tennessee a top-two finish in the SEC this season and a double-bye in the SEC Tournament next week.
 
Mississippi State (21-9, 9-8 SEC) pulled within four points early in the second half at 44-40, but UT responded with a 12-2 run to make it a 14-point game with 12:08 remaining.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsStarksville, MS – No. 16 Tennessee heads to Humphrey Coliseum to face one of the hottest teams in the SEC in Mississippi State on Tuesday night, February 27th. The game will tip at 6:00pm CT and will be televised live on SEC Network and streamed online via WatchESPN.

The Vols (21-7, 11-5 SEC) are coming off a pair of wins last week over Florida and Ole Miss. Admiral Schofield was named Co-SEC Player of the Week after averaging 20.5 points 7.5 rebounds and three assists in the wins. His week was highlighted by a dominant performance in Oxford during which he scored a career-high 25 points on an efficient 9-of-14 shooting en route to a 73-65 win over the Rebels. On the season, he ranks second on the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and first in rebounding (6.9 rpg).

Tennessee Lady Vols take down #3/2 Mississippi State, 82-64

UT Lady VolsStarksville, MS Tennessee earned one of the biggest wins of the Holly Warlick era on Sunday, defeating #3/2 Mississippi State, 82-64, at Humphrey Coliseum.

Jordan Reynolds also had a productive game, tying her career high in points with 17 to go along with eight rebounds and three assists.

Victoria Vivians led the Bulldogs (27-3, 13-3 SEC) with 18 points.

Tennessee’s defense came ready to play out of the gate, holding the Bulldogs to 19 percent shooting and more than a four-minute scoring drought in the first quarter. Jaime Nared got off to a quick start on the offensive end of the court, posting nine points to lead UT to an 18-8 advantage at the end of the period.

Tennessee Lady Vols rally late to down Florida Gators, 74-70

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN –  A late run by Tennessee helped give the Lady Vols a 74-70 victory over the Florida Gators on Senior Night at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Mercedes Russell led UT’s offense, getting her 16th double-double of the season, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Diamond DeShields just missed a triple-double, posting 15 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high nine assists.

UT got a late push of momentum in the fourth quarter to come back from a seven-point deficit. Over the last 2:57 in the contest, Tennessee (18-10, 9-6 SEC) went on a 13-2 run, starting with a layup by Alexa Middleton. She brought energy to the offense in the second half, finishing with 15 points and converting a trio of 3-pointers.

Tennessee Vols let game slip away at Mississippi State

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsStarkville, MS Poor free-throw shooting and a sluggish second half spelled trouble for Tennessee as Mississippi State snapped the Vols’ four-game winning streak with a 64-59 victory at Humphrey Coliseum.

Tennessee (13-10, 5-5 SEC) was led by 13 points from freshman Jordan Bone — his first game scoring in double figures since January 14th. Bone also notched a team- and season-high eight rebounds.

Fellow freshman Grant Williams was the only other Vol in double figures, finishing with 11 points.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee begins the back half of SEC play on Saturday when it travels to Starkville for a rematch with Mississippi State. Tipoff is set for 2:30pm CT on SEC Network.

The Vols (13-9, 5-4 SEC), winners of four straight games, are playing their second straight road contest after picking up an 87-77 win at Auburn on Tuesday night. It was UT’s fourth true road win of the season after having just achieved one such victory during the entire 2015-16 season.

That lone triumph away from home a year ago came at Humphrey Coliseum when Tennessee earned an 80-75 win over Mississippi State (13-8, 4-5 SEC).
