Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – While Austin Peay State University’s athletics department had great success on the field in 2017-18, it wasn’t just limited to wins and losses, as APSU student-athletics had tremendous accomplishments in the classroom.

Over the past few weeks, the Ohio Valley Conference as well as several other different sports organizations have given individual sports and athletes several honors for their achievements over the past semester and school year, as well as posting department overall grade-point averages of 3.0 or better for back-to-back semesters for the first time in 10 years.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors Tennis getting prepared for OVC Title defense

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men’s tennis team has picked up where it left off last year, as they prepare to defend its Ohio Valley Conference team championship.

The Governors, who won the Ohio Valley Conference title for the first time since 1974 with a 17-4 overall record, is currently 5-2 this season and has been distinguished by being ranked for the first time in the program’s history in the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) national rankings 72nd in Division I.

Former Austin Peay State University tennis coach to be inducted into Hall of Fame

 

Intercollegiate Tennis AssociationSkillman, New Jersey – Former Austin Peay State University tennis head coach Dennis Emery was one of seven individuals elected to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) 2013 Hall of Fame class, the governing body announced last week.

Emery, the long-time coach for the Kentucky men’s program, was Austin Peay’s head coach from 1977 through 1982.

Austin Peay Women’s Tennis’ Tomic and Carre near doubles upset but fall to the Memphis Tigers

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team dropped its home opener, 7-0, to Memphis, Friday afternoon at the Governors Indoor Tennis Center.

It was the second consecutive match in which head coach Malik Tabet pitted his young team against an experienced, highly-regarded opponent and Tabet remains adamant that results are not indicative of how the Lady Govs performed.
