Clarksville, TN – Some of the best times I’ve had on my motorcycle have been in my own back yard. Living in Tennessee presents me with beautiful countryside, navigated on back country roads for miles and miles. I’m able to cross up into Kentucky, or down to Alabama and the roads and beautiful scenery just keep unfolding in front of me.
When I bought my first Harley last year, I traveled to San Marcos Texas. The first leg of my trip was to travel down Highway 79 and keep off of the Interstate. I discovered beautiful roads, amazing countryside, quaint little towns and miles and miles of open road.
Before I knew it, I was in Memphis.
Jackson, TN – During a family vacation this summer, my family and I were blessed to meet a remarkable young man named Dusty Stanfill. He was born facing challenges that most of us couldn’t imagine. You can read his story here. I remember that all he talked about was his beloved baseball team, the Jackson Generals.
Since returning from vacation, I had been trying to figure out a way to pay him a visit, so what better way than to surprise him at a baseball game. So, working with some fabulous people at the Jackson Generals, I straddled the Harley and took off.
Clarksville, TN – Ryne Harper, who was a member of the Austin Peay State University baseball team from 2008-11 and current member of the Jackson (TN) Generals, was a part of a history-making first half for the franchise.
The 6-foot-3, right-handed, Clarksville native is a middle reliever and has been an important cog for the Generals, the Double A minor league farm team for the Seattle Mariners, who set a club record with 46 wins in their season’s first half.
Clarksville, TN – This past week in New York City, Major League Baseball held its annual amateur draft with four Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball players having their names called, bring the all-time total to 40 players selected in the draft from APSU since the first Gov was drafted in 1972.
Juniors Ridge Smith (catcher), Logan Gray (third base), Garrett Copeland (second base) and senior pitcher Jared Carkuff were chosen in the 12th, 13th, 30th and 35th rounds, respectively, marking the second time Austin Peay had has as many as four players drafted at one time – and trailing only the 2013 MLB draft were the Govs had five players picked.
Brentwood, TN – The 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship field is now set. The event will be held May 25th-29th at The Ballpark at Jackson (formerly Pringles Park) in Jackson, Tennessee.
This year marks the seventh year in a row the event will be held at the venue, which is home of the Jackson Generals, the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
The deal ensures the 2014, 2015 and 2016 championships will be held at The Ballpark at Jackson. The 2014 Championship will be held May 21st through May 25th.
The OVC has held its baseball championship at the venue for the past four years (2010-13). The Ballpark at Jackson serves as the home of the Jackson Generals, the AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Office of Alumni Relations will host a pre-game picnic, 2:00pm, Thursday, prior to the Governors’ opening-round Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament contest.
The No. 26-ranked Austin Peay baseball team won its final 11 OVC games to earn a No. 2 seed at the championships, complete with a first-round bye.

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Baseball
Clarksville, TN – Eleven games against six teams that qualified for the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship highlight the Austin Peay State University baseball schedule, released Tuesday, by head coach Gary McClure.
Austin Peay, which finished as the Eugene Regional runner up in last season’s NCAA tournament, will face six NCAA participants this season with four slated to visit Clarksville.
Jackson, TN – The 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship got underway on Wednesday with two games at Pringles Park.
In the first game of the day, No. 4 seed Eastern Illinois topped No. 5 Morehead State 2-1, scoring in the bottom of the ninth inning on a walk-off hit by Ryan Dineen.
