Clarksville, TN – From the time Tearra Banks arrived on the Austin Peay State University campus almost four years ago expectations have been high for Louisville, KY native and as the larger than life Banks nears the end of her playing career for the Govs she has cemented her standing as one of the all-time greats in the women’s basketball program’s history.
As the Govs enter their Ohio Valley Conference contest at UT Martin on January 25th, Banks is 12th all-time in scoring (1210 points) – just one point behind Georgie Vaughn for 11th place – and having passed former APSU standouts Sonja Cox, Kristen Stanback, Meghan Bussabarger, Jasmine Rayner, Carrie Thompson and Ashley Herring this season alone.

Clarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University announced the hiring of David Midlick as the new women’s basketball coach this past week that was the easy part of trying to return the Lady Govs back to being a force in the OVC …now the hard work begins.
Midlick inherits a team that has several solid to outstanding parts, but also a team that struggled to play up to their talent levels over extended games or even minutes in a single game.

Clarksville, TN – A familiar face once again will grace the sidelines for Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team as David Midlick has been named the 10th head coach in program history.
Midlick, a former Govs and Lady Govs assistant who led Delta State to consecutive Division II tournament appearances and mostly recently served as associate head coach at Memphis, was introduced at a press conference, Wednesday morning, in the Dunn Center.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team (7-14, 4-4 OVC) will complete a whirlwind three-game, six-day homestand when it hosts the Murray State Racers (8-12, 1-7 OVC) in a 7:00pm, Thursday contest at the Dunn Center.
Clarksville, TN – Senior Chantelle Grey, of the Austin Peay State University women’s track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Grey was the dominant athlete for the Lady Govs at last weekend’s Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Eastern Illinois. Her 2:12.61 mark in the 800m run won the event by nearly three seconds over her next closest competition. In victory, she became the first Lady Gov to win gold in the indoor 800m since Sheena Gooding won four years in a row (1999-2002) during her Hall of Fame career.

Clarksville, TN – Following an eight-day break for Christmas, Austin Peay women’s basketball team returns to action with a 3:00pm, Saturday contest against Alabama A&M at Elmore Gymnasium.
It will be the final non-conference test for the Lady Govs, who are still seeking their first road win this season.

Nashville, TN – For a fourth straight year, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team has earned the Ohio Valley Conference Team Academic Achievement Award for its respective sport.
Lady Govs golf was one of two APSU teams to earn such distinction, joining the Governors Tennis team. The team academic achievement awards are presented annually in each OVC-sponsored sport to the member institution’s team with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point average or higher-the Lady Govs golf team had seven members earn such status while the men’s tennis team had five.
