Daniel Norl leads Kenwood past upset-minded Clarksville High in opening-round of 10-AAA Tournament

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Senior Daniel Norl scored seven straight points in the third quarter, February 14th in the opening round of the District 10-AAA tournament, to rally top-seeded Kenwood High School past a stubborn Clarksville High squad, 57-44.

Kenwood (22-5), ranked 10th in the state’s Associated Press Poll in Class AAA, led 27-20 at halftime, but saw Clarksville High explode out of intermission by going on a 13-0 run – over the first 2:20 of the second half – to take the lead from the Knights, 33-27.

Northwest High Vikings pull away in second half to beat Clarksville High Wildcats 68-50

Northwest High School VikingsClarksville, TN – Tramon Moore scored 20 of his game-high 35 points in the second half — January 28th at the William Workman Gymnasium — to power Northwest High School, as they broke open a one-point point halftime lead into a 68-50 District 10-AAA victory over the Clarksville High School Wildcats.

Northwest (6-16, 3-8 District 10-AAA) looked like it was going to go into halftime down two points to the Wildcats, but Moore banked in a three from about 28-feet out as the buzzer sounded to give the Vikings a 27-26 lead at intermission.

Kenwood High Knights set tone early in 72-41 win over Clarksville High Wildcats

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Kenwood High School recorded scoring runs of nine and 11 points in the first quarter against Clarksville High School, January 24th in their District 10-AAA matchup, and were never threaten by the Wildcats in a 72-41 victory.

The game was only tied once, 3-3, after the Knights (17-4, 8-1 District 10-AAA) Daniel Norl and Clarksville High’s Teal Young traded three’s to open the game.

Norl would score 12 of his game-high 20 points in the opening quarter.

Clarksville High Wildcats get 86-80 double-overtime win over Northeast High Eagles

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Clarksville High School’s J.J. Jones scored a career-high 35 points, January 17th at the William Workman Gymnasium – including 10 of those points coming in the two overtime periods – to lead the Wildcats to an 86-80 District 10-AAA victory over the Northeast High School Eagles.

Jones twice scored four straight points in the overtime periods for the Wildcats (7-12, 3-5 District 10-AAA), but none bigger than his last four points of the night coming in the final 1:18 to put Clarksville high up three possessions with only 34 seconds left in the game.

Clarksville High Wildcats outlast West Creek in overtime for 73-72 District 10-AAA victory

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – Two late free throws by Tyriek Cheatham gave Clarksville High School a one-point lead, January 7th, but it wasn’t until a miss at the buzzer by West Creek High School that the Wildcats were able to seal away a 73-72 District 10-AAA overtime victory over the Coyotes.

Cheatham’s free throws with 19.2 seconds left gave Clarksville High (6-10, 2-3 District 10-AAA) the lead in the overtime period after West Creek had led by as many as three points in the extra stanza following a bucket by Jachin Almon, with 1:41 left.

Rossview High Hawks win District 10-AAA overtime thriller over Clarksville High 56-53

 

Rossview High School HawksClarksville, TN – Rossview High School picked up its first ever win at the William Workman Gymnasium, January 3rd, as it survived two last-second three-point field goal attempts by Clarksville High in defeating the Wildcats 56-53 in a District 10-AAA thriller.

The Hawks (4-5, 3-1 District 10-AAA) held a slim 54-53 lead, with 32 seconds left, following a driving baseline jumper by Javon Vaughn.

Clarksville High (5-10, 1-3 District 10-AAA) missed on its next possession and fouled the hawks leading scorer Julian Thompson-Clay with 17.4 seconds left – sending him to the line to shoot two free throws.

Clarksville High Wildcats run win streak to five with 52-50 victory over Father Ryan

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsNashville, TN – Clarksville High School put together an 11-2 run, early in the fourth quarter December 26th at the Willie Brown Memorial Tournament versus tournament host Father Ryan High School, to rally past the Fighting Irish for a 52-50 victory, to extend its win streak to five games.

The Wildcats (5-7) trailed Father Ryan 39-36, with 7:21 left in the game, following one of two free throws by the Irish’s Griffin Bumpus.

But Clarksville High would score eight straight points on two baskets each from J.J. Jones and Cameron Stiff – all coming off assists from Jeff Webb, who drove into the paint and dumped the ball off to the open man when they stepped up to try to take a charge.

Kenwood High School Knights beat winless Clarksville High 59-50

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – Leading by just four points heading into the final quarter of its District 10-AAA game, December 10th at William Workman Gymnasium, the Kenwood High Knights opened the final period with a 12-2 run on its way to a 59-50 victory over the Clarksville High Wildcats.

Daniel Norl and Kenya Mosley combined for 10 of the 12 points for Kenwood (6-1, 2-0 District 10-AAA) during that key run – starting with a bucket by Norl at the 7:46 mark and ending with a three by Mosley with 5:05 left in the game to make it 54-40.

Northeast High School Eagles score final five points to edge Clarksville High Wildcats in District 10-AAA opener 56-54

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – After leading for most of the night, it was Northeast High School that had to rally in the final minute of its District 10-AAA opener, December 3rd, as the Eagles edged the Clarksville High Wildcats, 56-54.

Northeast (4-3, 1-0 District 10-AAA) led by as many as 13 points in the first half against the Wildcats, but saw themselves down 54-51 – with 1:11 left in the game – after Clarksville High had put together a 10-0 run in a span of a 1:48.

Clarksville High School Wildcats Lose Nail-Biter to Franklin Rebels 43-42

 

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – As the final seconds of the game ran of the clock, Clarksville High Wildcat Derek Suiter launched a 3-pointer to win the game, but it hit the rim and the Franklin High Rebels pulled down the rebound to win the game 43-42.

The game was a fast paced, back and forth battle that was tied 28-28 after three periods. Franklin Rebel Ben Hagaman scored 6 straight points at the beginning of the 4th period to give the Rebels a 34-28 lead.
