Clarksville, TN – Local high school basketball teams passed the midway point of their season at the beginning of the new year with a chance to improve in the second half. Some of the boys basketball teams have taken advantage of the opportunity and some have lost the momentum they gained in the first half of the season.
With three weeks left in the regular season, the competition in District 10-AAA is both heated and fluid. Only two games separate the top six teams, all of whom are at least .500 in district play. Currently, two teams are tied at the top of the rankings. In short, with six games left for most of the teams, the regular season championship is up for grabs.
Clarksville, TN – Northeast High School opened their District 10-AAA game versus Henry County High School, Tuesday, December 9th, by hitting three straight 3s to jump out to an 11-3 lead on their way to a 60-44 victory over the Patriots.
Nick Green would get things going for Northeast (5-3, 2-1 District 10-AAA) with a three to tie the game for the only time on the night at the 6:34 mark, followed by back-to-back 3s from Jontae’ Brown to give the Eagles a 9-3 advantage.
Clarksville, TN – For the second game in a row, the basketball game at Northwest High School came down to a shot in the final seconds. This time the Vikings were not taking the last second shot for the win, but the outcome was the same. The Vikings defeated the Northeast Eagles 43-41, for their second straight District 10-AAA win.
Instead of launching a shot from half court for the win, Elijah McCoin had his hands up playing defense in the last seconds of the game Friday night against the Eagles. After a full game of active, smothering defense, the Vikings had to defend their hard fought 43-41 lead the last 18 seconds of the game.

Northeast (9-11, 4-4 District 10-AAA) trailed only once, 4-2, that coming in the first 46 seconds of the game, but from then on it was pretty much all Eagles, as their defensive pressure and trapping took Springfield out of any type of offense set that it was planning to run.
