Smyrna, TN – Approximately 110 Soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, headquartered in Knoxville, returned to Smyrna’s Volunteer Training Site on Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 following a nine-month long deployment as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Poland.
“This is the last group of Soldiers returning from Poland concluding a two year commitment of Tennessee Soldiers providing a forward presence along the frontier of freedom,” said Maj. Gen. Jeff Holmes, Tennessee’s Adjutant General.
Yavoriv, Ukraine – Soldiers of Task Force Carentan, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) participated in the opening ceremony for the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the Yavoriv Combat Training Center here, June 3rd, 2019.
The 95th AASLT BDE began a 45 day training rotation at the YCTC that will culminate in a brigade level field training exercise. Soldiers of Task Force Carentan work alongside the Ukrainian CTC Cadre as mentors to enhance systems and NATO interoperability within the CTC.

The 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard, “Task Force Saber”, transferred authority of the JMTG-U to “Task Force Carentan”.
Task Force Saber deployed to the Yavoriv Combat Training Center in July 2018 with over 200 troops in support of CTC cadre development.

Div. returned home from United States Army Europe, November 29th, after a nine-month deployment in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Clarksville, TN – Recently graduated Austin Peay State University senior softball player Christiana Gable has a busy next month in front of her, as she once again joins the German Women’s National Team as they prepare for the 20th European Softball Championships in Bollate, Italy.
Gable, who is from Nolensville, TN, is eligible to play for the German National Team due to her mother being a native of the country and thus she has dual citizenship with a German passport.
Instant Peay Play: APSU Basketball teams start practice with shoes to fill and new players to acclimate
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s men’s and women’s basketball have both started their pre-season practices for the upcoming 2016-17 season and like seasons before both have questions to be answered.
The biggest question for both teams is how you replace one of the best players to have played for your respective program, with the men’s team having to replace post player Chris Horton and the women’s team point guard Tiasha Gray.

Brentwood, TN – Freshman Almantas Ozelis, of the Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team, has earned All-Ohio Valley Conference second team accolades, the conference office announced Thursday night at the annual awards banquet.
Ozelis, of Marijampole, Lithuania, joined the Govs prior to the spring season, and has been a reliable No. 2 player ever since.

Ozelis, of Marijampole, Lithuania, went 6-0 overall on the week – singles and doubles combined – as the Governors claimed wins over Murray State, Tennessee State and Belmont to extend the team’s OVC winning streak to five.
