Joint forces continue Marawara operations

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBastogneKunar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security and coalition forces from Task Force Bastogne continued operations in the Marawara District, Kunar Province April 3rd.

Operations began on March 29th, with the ASNF and coalition forces clearing the region around the villages of Sarowbay and Barawarlow Kalay.

Operation Eagle Claw II concludes

BastogneFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionKunar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security and coalition forces concluded operations December 12th in the Ganjgal Valley of the Sarkani District located in the Kunar Province.

The early morning operation began December 10th with an insertion of the combined security force into the mountains near the villages of Ganjgal, Dam Darye and Bargay.

Pech River Valley operations conclude

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBastogneKundar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team (Task Force Bastogne), 101st Airborne Division, concluded operations in the eastern Pech River Valley November 25th, clearing the area of insurgent fighters in the Watapur District of Kunar Province.

This security operation enhanced the safety of the Pech River Valley residents and further disrupted insurgent activities throughout the region.

Afghan, coalition forces conclude operations in eastern Pech Valley

Fort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionBastogneKunar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and International Security Assistance Forces concluded clearing operations November 17th in the eastern Pech River Valley, Kunar Province.

The combined security force had moved into the Watapur Valley to search for militants and weapons caches November 14th.

Reports indicate that as many as 49 insurgents may have been killed during the security sweep of the area. «Read the rest of this article»

Afghan Soldiers rescue villagers from flash flood

Regional Command East - Combined Joint Task Force - 101Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan – Afghan National Army Soldiers rescued over 200 people from flash flooding here July 28th.

The Nangarhar Operational Coordination Center (Provincial) received reports that torrential rains had caused flash flooding in several villages, stranding hundreds of people.  The ANA sprang into action, coordinating and executing the rescue of the stranded Afghans.
