APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University track and field (APSU) will take a step up in competition this weekend at the Purdue-hosted Gene Edmonds Invitational. Action commences Friday at the recently-renovated Lambert Fieldhouse in West Lafayette, Indiana.

With a win under their belts, APSU Men’s Golf returns to action in Sevierville

Clarksville, TN – After picking up its first win of the Robbie Wilson era two weeks ago in Fort Lauderdale, Austin Peay State University men’s golf goes back to work in Sevierville, Tennessee this weekend—site of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech at Sevierville Golf Club. The rarely-seen collegiate three-day affair begins Sunday.

APSU Lady Govs head coach Carrie Daniels adds experienced Dean Walsh to coaching staff

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball head coach Carrie Daniels has announced the addition of Dean Walsh to her coaching staff for the 2013-14 season, effective Monday.

Walsh, who was an associate head coach at Gardner-Webb last season, fills the position left vacant by the departure of Jessica Grayson last fall and joins assistant coaches Brooke Armistead and Jerome Jackson on Daniels’ staff.

Northwest Senior (15-16) baseball team are Tennessee State Little League Champions

 

Northwest Little League hosted the 2012 Senior (15-16) State Tournament

Little League BaseballClarksville, TN – The Northwest Senior(15-16) boys baseball team won the Tennessee State Baseball Championship by going 3-0 at Stokes field last week.

They defeated Smith County 6- 2 on Sunday, July 22nd behind  the strong pitching from winning pitcher Adam Caver, Jose Poindexter, Dakota Doron, and Tyler Boles,(who recorded the save). They gave up only 3 hits while striking out 14.

Northwest was able to take advantage of 5 Smith County errors to advance in the winners bracket.

Clarksville National 7-8 year old Blue team wins State Tournament

 

Little League BaseballTullahoma, TN – The Clarksville National Blue team won the 2012 State Junior (7-8) Baseball Tournament held in Tullahoma, Tennessee the week of July 15th-19th. The team went 5-0 in winning the district 9 tournament one week prior.

In the state tournament, the Big Blue won their first 2 games against Maryville and Hartsville. In the third game, the team fell to Carter County in a tight 4-3 game. They re-grouped and defeated the home team from Tullahoma 13-5 to advance to the championship round against Carter County.

Having to beat Carter County twice to claim the title, the bats stayed hot and Clarksville rolled 11-3 in the first game and 10-4 in the championship game.

Clarksville High School Wildcats hold off late run by Cherokee High to win 53-47

 

Clarksville High will face Memphis Central in a Tournament Semifinal game Friday

Clarksville Sports NetworkMurfreesboro, TN – All that matters at the end of the game is that you have more points than the other team, there’s no value for how aesthetic a victory is.

And that was the case for Clarksville High School in its 53-47 victory over Cherokee High School  in a quarterfinal game of the Boys Class AAA State Tournament in the Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University. The Wildcats got the win, but it wasn’t pretty.
