Clarksville, TN – After picking up its first win of the Robbie Wilson era two weeks ago in Fort Lauderdale, Austin Peay State University men’s golf goes back to work in Sevierville, Tennessee this weekend—site of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech at Sevierville Golf Club. The rarely-seen collegiate three-day affair begins Sunday.

The Govs are one of 14 teams participating in the sixth-annual event; Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee State, UT Martin and Tennessee Tech will make it an OVC-centric field, with defending champion Carson-Newman, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, Lincoln Memorial, Marshall, Maryville, Montreat and Wright State rounding out the field.

The par-72 River Course in Sevierville will play as long as 6,913 yards (Day One) and as short as 6,796 yards (Day Two) this week. The Govs will be paired with Eastern Kentucky and host Tennessee Tech on Day One, with tee time set for 10:00am.

The same lineup that was so successful in Fort Lauderdale will take the course this week in Sevierville, led by sophomore Michael Busse in the No. 1 spot. Sophomore Alex Vegh, who fired a 71 in the second round of this event last year, is in the two-spot, with sophomore Austin Lancaster, last seen winning Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week honors two weeks ago, at No. 3.

All three sophomores were in the lineup last year, when the Govs tied for third at this event with Evansville.

The freshmen will round out the lineup, with Chase Korte and Jay Fox competing in the fourth and fifth spots. Korte has been in the lineup all nine times for the Govs in his freshman campaign, leading the team in stroke average (73.00) and countable rounds (22 of 23).

There will not be live scoring for this three-day event; a complete recap will be available at LetsGoPeay.com at the conclusion of play each day.
