Tennessee Titans history against Atlanta Falcons

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – After 14 meetings in the regular season, the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons series is tied 7-7. The series dates back to 1972, three seasons into the AFL-NFL merger.

The Falcons won the last two matchups in 2011 and 2015 after the Titans took five consecutive meetings from 1993 to 2007. The Falcons won four out of the first five contests from 1972 to 1984.

This week marks the first time the Titans will play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which opened in 2017.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – This week the Tennessee Titans (1-2) play their third road game in the first four weeks of the season, traveling to face the Atlanta Falcons (1-2). Kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (capacity 71,000) is scheduled for 1:00pm EDT/Noon CDT on Sunday, September 29th.

The Titans will make their first appearance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which opened in 2017. The last time they went to Atlanta in the regular season was November 20th, 2011, when the Falcons won by a final score of 23-17 at the Georgia Dome. In 14 all-time games between the two clubs, the series is tied 7-7.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Coming off its first loss in SEC play, the fifth-ranked Tennessee Vols will look to bounce back against in-state rival Vanderbilt Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The game will tip at 6:00pm CT and will be televised on ESPN and can also be viewed online through WatchESPN. Fans can listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to hear Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp describing the action. Tickets for the game are still available at AllVols.com.

The game has been tabbed as Donate Life Night. “The goal for Donate Life Night is to encourage Tennessee fans to take action and register as donors,” said Tennessee Assistant Athletics Director Tom Satkowiak, who underwent an 11-hour liver transplant surgery in October.

Tennessee Titans pick Mike Mularkey as new Head Coach

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have hired Mike Mularkey on a permanent basis, removing his interim tag and making him the 18th head coach in franchise history.

“The vision Mike presented for our football team during this search as well as the character, integrity, and leadership skills he displayed during the last two months of the season makes him the right coach for the Tennessee Titans,” said Titans Controlling Owner and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors Amy Adams Strunk.

Tennessee Titans lose close one to Atlanta Falcons 10-7

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (1-5) come up short in 10-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons (6-1) at Nissan Stadium, Sunday. This was the Titans fifth straight loss this season.

With 1:31 left in the game, the Tennessee was on the Atlanta 42 yard line with a chance to go down and get a field goal to tie the game. However, Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger’s pass intended for Kendall Wright was intercepted by Falcons safety Robenson Therezie. Atlanta ran out the clock to end the game.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (1-4) host the the Atlanta Falcons (5-1) this week at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143). Kickoff is scheduled for noon CDT on Sunday, October 25th. The Falcons will appear in a regular season game at Nissan Stadium for only the third time. The Titans took both of the previous two meetings at the venue, winning 30-17 in 1999 and 20-13 in 2007.

This week’s game will be televised regionally on FOX, including Nashville affiliate WZTV FOX 17. Thom Brennaman will handle play-by-play duties alongside analyst Charles Davis with Tony Siragusa serving as an on-field analyst.

Tennessee Titans drop preseason game 31-24 to Atlanta Falcons; Marcus Mariota has rough start

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – On Friday night, August 14th, the Tennessee Titans traveled to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons for their first preseason game at the Georgia Dome. The Titans fell behind early 17-0 but came back to tie it 24-24 in the third. The Falcons scored a touchdown in the fourth to ice the game.

Atlanta started the game with the ball after the Titans deferred the ball. The Falcons took their opening possession 91 yards for a touchdown. The drive was capped off by a 13 yard pass from quarterback Matt Ryan to Julio Jones.

The game will be televised regionally on the Titans Preseason TV Network, including flagship WKRN-News 2 in Nashville. Play-by-play announcer Cory Curtis and analyst Eddie George will call the action, while Audra Martin will report from the sidelines. Additionally, NFL Network will broadcast the game live to a national audience.

Tennessee Titans slip past Atlanta Falcons 24-17 in third preseason game

 

Tennessee TitansAtlanta, GA – With 5:45 left in the fourth quarter, Bishop Sankey scored on a 3 yard run off right guard to give the Tennessee Titans (2-1-0) their first lead of the game over the Atlanta Falcons (1-2-0). Sankey stretched out and over the goal converting the 2 point conversion, giving the Titans a 24-17 win at the Georgia Dome.

The Falcons took their next possession down to the Titans’ 4 yard line where Tennessee’s defense stiffened. On 4th and 2, Sean Refree’s pass to Julian Jones up the middle fell incomplete, turning the ball over on downs with 1:08 remaining. The Titans ran out the clock to secure the victory.

The trip to Atlanta could be the last chance for some to make a lasting impression. By 3:00pm CDT on August 26th, the roster must be trimmed from a maximum of 90 players to 75. The final cut to 53 players occurs on August 30th.
