APSU Soccer hosts Evansville, Sunday

 

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – After a long trip west, Austin Peay State University (APSU) soccer will be back at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field when it hosts Evansville for a 12:00pm match Sunday, September 15th.

After a two-game road trip in Colorado, the Governors have had the week off from competition to recover and prepare for a Sunday match against Evansville. The Governors have defeated the Purple Aces the last two times they have played and look to make it three in a row.

Austin Peay State University has record breaking 32 Student Athletes earn OVC Academic Medal of Honor

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes’ record-breaking year academically continued Monday as 32 Governors received the Ohio Valley Conference’s Academic Medal of Honor.

The 32 Austin Peay student-athletes awarded the 2018-19 OVC Academic Medal of Honor each carried a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the academic year. The award recognized those conference student-athletes who achieve the highest GPA in a conference-sponsored sport. The league recognized a record 268 recipients of the Academic Medal of Honor in 2018-19.

Austin Peay State University student-athletes average 3.0 GPA for a record fourth straight semester

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes posted a departmental grade-point average of 3.0 or better for a program-record fourth consecutive semester finishing the Spring 2019 semester with a 3.096 mark.

A department-record 70 percent of Austin Peay’s 289 varsity student-athletes earned academic honors for the spring semester. The last eight semesters dating back to Fall 2015 have yielded eight of the top-10 semester GPA’s since tracking data began in 1993. For just the fourth time, more than 100 Govs earned a spot on the Dean’s List, with 48 posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s for the semester.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes set a department record with a 3.15 grade-point average for the Fall 2018 semester.

For the first time, Austin Peay student-athletes have posted a department-wide GPA of 3.0 or greater in three consecutive semesters. A record 209 student-athletes received academic recognition for the Fall 2018 semester, including 107 recognized on the dean’s list. It’s the third time 100 or more student athletes have been named to the dean’s list.

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityCape Girardeau, MO – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team saw its season come to an end after a 2-1 loss to Southeast Missouri, Sunday, at Houck Field.

The Govs (8-8-1, 3-6-1 OVC) knew a win over the Redhawks (5-8-3, 3-4-3 OVC) would qualify them for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team fell to rival Murray State, 2-1, in a hotly contested match, Friday, at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

The Govs (8-6-1, 3-4-1 OVC) unfortunately saw their program-record unbeaten streaks at home (16 in conference, 23 overall) come to an end as the Racers (9-3-1, 5-2 OVC) all but assured themselves a place in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The Govs (8-4-1, 3-2-1 OVC) are in a prime position to rise in the Ohio Valley Conference standings, while the Colonels (5-6-2, 1-2-2 OVC) will have some work to in the coming weeks.

Head coach Naomi Kolarova only made one change in the lineup, but there were multiple Govs who made a switch into different positions.

The Govs (5-2-1, 0-0-1) wasted no time in attacking with Claire Larose having a shot that went high in the first minute of the game.

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team came from behind to defeat Chattanooga, 2-1, Sunday, at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

The game was played in less than ideal conditions, with the field being very wet with spots of standing water due to the rain that had been in the area.
