Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime StoppersClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Crime Stoppers program announced in February 2018 that it was creating an enhanced TIPS program titled  “Cold Case & Heinous Crime Initiative.

Crime Stopper Chairman Josh Beal stated this new program was initiated by Vice-Chairman Bill Summers.  Chairman Beal said, “Crime Stoppers Board members are heavily involved and excited that this enhanced program will bring positive results.”

SpiritFest offers Family Fun Activities before Clarksville’s Lighted Christmas Parade

Clarksville's SpiritfestClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 2nd, 2017, the 3rd Annual SpiritFest, a holiday event, will offer a bounty of free activities, including visits with Santa Claus, rides on the International Express Bus, four kids’ inflatables, live music on the new Downtown Commons stage, ice skating, art and gift markets, food trucks and a live nativity with animals. SpiritFest begins at 2:00pm and runs until 5:00pm.

It will start three hours before Clarksville’s 58th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade, which will pass by its location in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

SpiritFest, a free “Pre-Parade Celebration of Christmas,” will feature kids’ inflatables, Santa Claus, complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, Christmas music performances by multiple groups, a live nativity including animals, food trucks and two art and gift markets.

City of Clarksville announces Liberty Park to get more parking

 

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Site preparation has begun on a project to add 130 parking spaces to the southwest corner of Liberty Park.

“Experience showed that we needed additional parking,” said Wayne Masterson, Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s deputy director of parks and operations. “Liberty Park is popular, and we were starting to see an overflow of vehicles at peak times. People were starting to park in the grass. So this should help.”

APSU Governors Bass Tournament begins in a few weeks

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 13th, 2017 the 24th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament will be held at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing (Tennessee) State Park. Last season’s tourney drew nearly 200 boats.

More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded. Previously, the Top 25 places earned cash prizes but now only the Top 10 places will gain monetary awards, meaning greater cash payouts, respectively, for those positions.

Austin Peay State University’s Raymond C. Hand Park undergoing Dugout Renovations

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Work began Monday on a significant change to Austin Peay State University’s Raymond C. Hand Park as Morgan Contractors, Inc. began removing the dugouts at the Governors baseball field.

The project will replace the current facilities which were built when the park moved to its current location in the early 1970s.

Clarksville’s Frank and Connie Fisher win 22nd Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament

 

APSU Governors Bass TournamentBuchanan, TN – On Saturday, May 14th, the 22nd annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 187 boats competing for $12,000 in prize money.

Although the forecast was for a clear, sunny day, the start of the tournament was anything but. Clouds rolled in, the wind kicked up making for a cold morning with a lot of chop on the water. As the day went on, the clouds departed and the sunny weather promised presented itself.
