APSU Men's BasketballNashville, TN – In its first dose of post-Christmas action, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball team traveled to the Music City for the contest in the unfriendly confines of the Gentry Center and emerged with a true road win against Tennessee State for the first time since 2014, coming out ahead in a 68-59 Ohio Valley Conference decision, Wednesday.

Longtime voice of APSU Basketball Greg Walker, passes away

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU)’s athletics department announces with a heavy heart that Greg Walker, the longtime voice of Governors men’s basketball and an Austin Peay alumnus, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 7th, 2018.

A life-long Clarksvillian, Walker graduated from Austin Peay in 1973. He initially joined the Governors Sports Network as a color commentator alongside Bill Herndon before assuming play-by-play duties in the late 1990s after Herndon was forced to step away.

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – A backloaded nonconference schedule, a 15-game home slate and an 18-game marathon Ohio Valley Conference slate all highlight the 2017-18 Austin Peay State University women’s basketball schedule, released Monday.

Austin Peay opens its 2017-18 slate on the road with a November 11th contest in historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis to face Butler for the first time since 2004.

APSU student newspaper “The All State” wins awards at National Convention in Atlanta

 

APSU Student Newspaper - The All State - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The All State, the student-run newspaper at Austin Peay State University, earned two national awards from the College Media Association (CMA) during the organization’s Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 29th.

Glavine Day, sports editor, earned a coveted second place national Pinnacle Award for Best Sports Page/Spread for her designs featuring the huge win by the Govs at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship.

APSU Basketball Reunion to honor 1995-96 Championship Teams Saturday, February 20th

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Basketball Reunion will be held Saturday, February 20th, the same day the Governors play host to the Murray State Racers.

On the 20-year anniversary, APSU will honor the 1995-95 Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams, who captured Ohio Valley Conference championships that season. Under head coach LaDonna McClain, It was the Lady Govs’ first basketball championship. On the men’s side, it was fourth Governors championship, but first under head coach Dave Loos.
