Nashville Sounds fall at Tacoma Rainiers, 3-1

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds were unable to complete their first series sweep of the season Monday afternoon losing 3-1 to the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium.

Nashville trailed 1-0 in the top of the eighth inning when a series of odd events helped them even the game. Four consecutive Sounds reached base without the benefit of a base hit. Andy Ibanez was hit by a pitch, Patrick Wisdom and Chase d’Arnaud drew walks to load the bases, and Tyler Pill was hit by a pitch to force in Ibanez from third to tie the game at 1-1.

Nashville Sounds blank Tacoma Rainiers, 3-0

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Nashville Sounds’ Seth Maness and Wes Benjamin combined on a five-hitter Sunday afternoon, leading the team to a 3-0 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. It marks the team’s first shutout win of the year, and its first winning series in Tacoma since 2002.

The Sounds, now 3-3 on their road trip, again got early home runs for a lead they never gave away. Eli White blasted a solo shot leading off the third against Anthony Misiewicz, and Jett Bandy belted a two-run shot in the fourth for a 3-0 score that became the final. White has four home runs on the road trip, and each time it has given the Sounds a 1-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds defeat Tacoma Rainiers, 4-2

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – The Nashville Sounds, powered by Eli White and Patrick Wisdom homers, never trailed Saturday night in 4-2 win over the Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium. The Sounds have won the first two games of the four-game set and haven’t trailed at any point.

Esmerling Vasquez notched the win in his Sounds debut. He tossed five innings of shutout ball and was the beneficiary when White broke the scoreless tie with a two-out solo homer to left field in the sixth inning off Tyler Cloyd. Then Wisdom led off the seventh with a blast of his own to left off Matt Carasiti to make it 2-0.

Nashville Sounds pitcher Tim Dillard key in 7-5 win over Tacoma Rainiers

 

Nashville SoundsTacoma, WA – Nashville Sounds pitcher Tim Dillard goes 6 1/3 innings, Chase d’Arnaud homered and knocked in four runs to lead Sounds to a 7-5 victory over the Tacoma Rainiers on Friday night at Cheney Stadium. Dillard struck out a season-high seven and notched his 43rd win all-time as a Sound, and the team snapped a five-game losing streak.

Dillard posted his second consecutive quality start, and this one came with the Sounds still short-handed and overworked in the bullpen. The Sounds gave him an early five-run lead with a big third inning.

Nashville Sounds give up late run to lose 11-10 to Reno Aces

 

Nashville SoundsReno, NV – The Nashville Sounds rally late to tie Reno Aces Thursday night but gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth for an 11-10 loss at Greater Nevada Field. The Sounds got swept in the series and have lost five consecutive games.

Down 10-5 after four innings, the Sounds rallied to tie it 10-10 by the end of seven. Adam Moore drilled a two-run homer in the fifth, Matt Davidson launched a two-run shot over the scoreboard in left in the sixth, and Moore singled home Tyler Pill in the seventh to draw the Sounds even.

Tacoma Rainers roar back late to defeat Nashville Sounds, 8-6

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Nashville Sounds failed to hang on to a 6-1 lead and dropped the series finale to the Tacoma Rainiers, 8-6, in front of 7,824 fans at First Tennessee Park Monday night.

Tacoma scored four runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to erase the deficit. It came after Nashville starter James Naile limited the Rainiers to just one run on five hits in six innings. The quality start was Naile’s team-leading sixth of the season.

Nashville built a lead thanks to a four-run bottom of the sixth. Leading 2-1 entering the frame, four consecutive hits by Beau Taylor, Anthony Garcia, Bruce Maxwell and Franklin Barreto extended the lead to 3-1. Jorge Mateo made it a 6-1 game when he cleared the bases with a three-run triple down the right field line.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds and Tacoma Rainiers exchanged punches late with Tacoma issuing the final blow to defeat the Sounds 5-3 Sunday night at First Tennessee Park.

With the Sounds on top 1-0 and the pitching staff seemingly cruising, the Rainiers pulled out a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning. Ian Miller singled with one out in the frame off Jeremy Bleich and swiped second base.

Raul Alcantara then replaced Bleich to face John Andreoli whom he promptly walked. Two batters later Mejias-Brean served a hit into shallow centerfield. An onrushing BJ Boyd made a sliding attempt at a catch but the ball skipped past him allowing both Andreoli and Miller to score and Mejias-Brean to reach third base.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The Nashville Sounds came out on the wrong end of a pitcher’s duel with the Tacoma Rainiers in front of 10,117 fans at First Tennessee Park Saturday night. The Sounds were shutout by Tacoma 1-0 as both pitching staffs kept the opposing offenses at bay.

Nashville’s Edwin Jackson shined in his Sounds debut but it was not enough as Tacoma’s Rob Whalen had his best performance of the season. Jackson notched his seventh quality start of the season after six with Triple-A Syracuse as he allowed just one lone run on three hits in his six innings of work. He walked three and fanned seven. Whalen meanwhile yielded just two infield singles in six innings of shutout baseball and recorded an out against the final 12 batters he faced.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Anthony Garcia drilled a grand slam and the Nashville Sounds routed the Tacoma Rainiers, 11-3, in front of a sellout crowd of 10,022 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.

Garcia’s blast came as part of a six-run second inning for the Sounds. Entering the bottom of the inning, the Sounds trailed 1-0 but quickly turned it around. With one out, Sheldon Neuse singled and BJ Boyd doubled to even the game at 1-1.

Tacoma starter Ross Detwiler issued three consecutive walks to force in another run to give Nashville a 2-1 lead.

Reno Aces defeat Nashville Sounds, 7-1

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN -The offense faltered for the Nashville Sounds Thursday night as they suffered a 7-1 setback to the Reno Aces their series finale.

The Sounds found themselves in an early hole before stepping up to the plate and never provided any resistance. A sacrifice fly from Socrates Brito followed by a two-run blast from Kevin Cron off starter Ben Bracewell put Nashville behind the eight-ball 3-0 in the first inning.

Cron found his home run swing again in the seventh inning of reliever Carlos Ramirez. The Aces’ first baseman turned on a 1-2 fastball and deposited it into the berm in left center field to extend Reno’s lead to 7-0.
