Tyler Guy, Hunter Richardson overcome slow start to win Bud Light Two-Man Scramble

 

Clarksville Golf AssociationClarksville, TN – Despite not getting their first birdie until the fifth hole, Sunday, June 22nd at Swan Lake Golf Course, the duo of Tyler Guy and Hunter Richardson went wire-to-wire to claim the tournament championship in the 2014 Bud Light Two-Man Scramble.

Guy and Richardson, who will be collegiate teammates at the University of Tennessee at Martin this coming fall, held a three shot lead heading into the final 18 holes, but saw that lead dwindle over the first nine holes of play.

Tyler Guy, Hunter Richardson lead Bud Light Two-Man Scramble after opening-round 57

 

Clarksville Golf AssociationClarksville, TN – Tyler Guy and Hunter Richardson will be applying their golf skills with the University of Tennessee at Martin this coming fall, but showed a little early teamwork June 21st at Swan Lake Gold Course, as the pair combined to shot an opening-round 57 (14 under) to lead the Bud Light Two-Man Scramble by three shots.

Guy — who will be a junior — and Richardson, an incoming freshman for the Skyhawks this fall, were the only team to post a round in the 50’s, with the teams of Brian Balthrop and Josh Black, Johnathan Sewell and Sam Gentry, Greg Guinn and Todd Greene, and Rob Clouser and Steven Huff all coming in with opening rounds of 60.

Clarksville City Amateur Golf Tournament heads into the final round with Brian Balthrop and Graham Sleigh sharing the lead

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Turning in the two best rounds of the day, July 20th at Cole Park Golf Course, Brian Balthrop and Graham Sleigh sit tied atop the leader-board at six-under par after the first 36 holes of play at the Clarksville City Amateur.

After shooting an even-par round of 72 on July 19th at the Clarksville County Club, Sleigh fired a bogie-free round at Cole Park – including birdies on holes three, five, seven, 12 and an eagle on 14.

Clarksville City Amateur Golf Tournament opening round sees Low Scores at a Premium

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Only six of the 59 competitors shot par or better in the opening round of the 2013 Clarksville City Amateur, July 19th at the Clarksville Country Club, as the tournament moves to Cole Park Golf Course for the second round July 20th.

There is no real surprises at who the at the top of the leaderboard after Day 1, as Tyler Guy – who teamed with Clev Guinn to win the Bud Light Two-Man Scramble back on June 22nd and 23rd – was one of three golfers to card a one-under par 71.

Clarksville Country Club fires General Manager and Golf Pro

 

Clarksville Country ClubClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Country Club, one of the oldest private clubs in the southeast, has made some major changes in it’s management and pro shop operations.

In an announcement made to it’s membership, the board of directors informed the members that they have entered into an agreement with Troon Golf, LLC to provide management and to oversee all operations throughout the facility.

In making the announcement, the Clarksville Country Club welcomes Rocky Papachek as the interim General Manager of the club effective immediately.  Papachek comes from the Wausau Country Club in Wausau Wisconsin. Wendy’s Invitational Golf Tournament sees APSU’s Dustin Korte rally for the win Sunday

 

Greg Guinn takes Senior Division Title

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Entering Sunday’s final round at the Wendy’s Invitational at Swan Lake Golf Course, Austin Peay State University junior Dustin Korte knew he’d need to turn in a near flawless round to have a shot at winning Clarksville’s first major amateur golf  tournament of the year.

18 holes later, Korte not only had a shot at winning the tournament, he had a shot at making history.

Wendy’s Invitational opening round led by Brian Balthrop

 

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Former Austin Peay and Clarksville High School standout Brian Balthrop fired a 68 Saturday to take a one-shot lead into Sunday’s final round of the Wendy’s Invitational Golf Tournament at the Swan Lake Golf Course.

Balthrop, who finished a single stroke short of forcing a three-way playoff with Greg Guinn and Jeff Chandler at the 2011 Wendy’s, appeared in control for much of the afternoon Saturday, taking advantage of Swan Lake’s new Bermuda greens.

Brian Balthrop, Josh Black battle back to claim Tri-Fecta title at Cole Park Golf Course

Clarksville Sports NetworkFort Campbell, KY – Entering the final nine holes of Sunday’s First Advantage Two Man Tri-Fecta at Fort Campbell’s Cole Park Golf Course, Brian Balthrop and Josh Black found themselves facing a three-shot deficit.

Nine regulation holes later, however, the twosome found themselves atop the leaderboard of the first-year event, winning the Championship Flight before then claiming the first Clarksville Golf Association tournament title of 2012 in a one-hole playoff.
