Los Angeles, CA – Just what the doctor ordered. A big win for the Nashville Predators.
Tonight in Los Angeles, the Predators did what they needed to do with a 3-1 win over the lackluster Kings. Coming off of two embarrassing performances of late, the Predators stepped up their energy throughout the game, firing 34 shots on goal and keeping LA goalie Jonathan Quick under fire for most of the night.
Viktor Arvidsson got things started for the Predators at 15:04 of the opening period when Nashville took off on an odd man rush after a Pekka Rinne save on the Nashville net.
Toronto, Ontario, Canada – The Nashville Predators continue to roll on this ambitious road trip, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs, 4-0. That gives the Predators five out of a possible six points in their last three games.
Nashville used a stiff defense tonight and a brick wall in net, Pekka Rinne, to thwart the Leafs.
After a scoreless first period, Mattias Ekholm got the Predators on the board at 4:08 of the second period, hammering a slap shot from the point and the power play goal gave Nashville the 1-0 lead. Craig Smith and Kevin Fiala had the assists. Fiala has 7 points in his last six games.
Montreal Quebec, Can– The Nashville Predators rebounded from last night’s loss to Detroit, winning the back end of a “back-to-back” series, beating the Montreal Canadiens 4-1.
Craig Smith scored twice and Juuse Saros was stellar in goal for the win. Nashville was playing their old captain Shea Weber who scored the only Montreal goal.
Smith got the scoring started for the Predators at 10:44 of the first period, finding a rebound in front of the Montreal net and slipping the puck into the net past Carey Price for the 1-0 lead.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators were flat tonight and the Toronto Maple Leafs took full advantage, defeating the Predators 5-2 at Bridgestone Arena.
Another sell-out crowd watched Auston Matthews and his team put an old fashioned whipping on the favored Predators, where Nashville had their fifteen game point streak end with the loss.
The Predators are 14-1-1 over the last 16 games. They find themselves now tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning with 106 points for the NHL lead.
Clarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators began a four game road trip with a come from behind win over the Arizona Coyotes, 3-2. The win marks the 10th win in a row for Predators goalie, Pekka Rinne.
The Predators have had trouble with Arizona, with an 0-2-2 record against the team in the desert, but pulled out the win, twice coming from behind.
Christian Dvorak got things started for Arizona at 4:09 of the second period with a wrist shot that beat Rinne, whose vision was blocked on the play. The Coyotes took the early lead, 1-0.
Clarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators won an overtime thriller to begin their four game road trip tonight, against the New York Islanders, 5-4. Ryan Johansen tied the game with just under one minute in regulation, then THE captain, Roman Josi scored the game winner to earn the Predators the two points.
In what can only be described as one of the most exciting comebacks in Nashville Predators history, Nashville gets the win in a battle of goaltenders as Pekka Rinne and New York’s Jaroslav Halak put on a clinic.
Nashville, TN – Minor League Baseball™ announced today that it has selected Mike Guerrero, who managed the Nashville Sounds this season, as the winner of the sixth annual Mike Coolbaugh Award, presented to an individual who has shown an outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game and skill in mentoring young players on the field. Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds welcome Darnell Coles as the team’s field manager for the 2014 season, replacing two-year Sounds skipper Mike Guerrero, who was promoted to the Milwaukee Brewers’ coaching staff earlier this off season.
The 51-year-old Coles becomes the 25th manager in the Sounds’ 37-year franchise history and will be joined by a returning coaching staff.
