Los Angeles, CA – Just what the doctor ordered. A big win for the Nashville Predators.
Tonight in Los Angeles, the Predators did what they needed to do with a 3-1 win over the lackluster Kings. Coming off of two embarrassing performances of late, the Predators stepped up their energy throughout the game, firing 34 shots on goal and keeping LA goalie Jonathan Quick under fire for most of the night.
Viktor Arvidsson got things started for the Predators at 15:04 of the opening period when Nashville took off on an odd man rush after a Pekka Rinne save on the Nashville net.
The Kings stepped up their energy in the second period, putting more pressure on the Nashville net, when Austin Wagner took a centering pass from Trevor Lewis to park the puck into the back of the Nashville net, and the game was tied, 1-1.
Then at 15:32 of the second frame, Craig Smith crashed the LA net and powered a juicy mid air rebound into the net and the Predators regained their lead, 2-1.
Colton Sissons would notch his name on the scoresheet at 17:59 of the second frame as he intercepted a pass and skated to the Kings net and rifled a shot through the legs of Jonathan Quick and that would be your final score, 3-1.
The Kings fired only 24 shots on goal tonight and Quick took the loss in net. There were only three penalties called on the night and the Arvidsson goal was a shorthanded goal.
Nashville will complete their west coast swing on Saturday night when they visit the red hot San Jose Sharks.
Nashville returns home on Tuesday night to host the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bridgestone Arena. Puck drops at 7:00pm.
