Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators hold on to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shoot-out, 4-3. Rocco Grimaldi scored the decisive goal in the 8th round of the shoot-out for the win.
The Predators were coming off of a tough loss last night in Chicago and blew an early two goal lead to hang on for the win. Columbus fought a valiant fight, considering that half of their team is on injured reserve.
Ryan Johansen and Mikael Granlund gave the Predators a 2-0 lead after the first period, with Johansen scoring just 33 seconds into the contest, while Granlund extended the Nashville lead at 10:31.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators saw their three-game win streak come to an abrupt end tonight at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1.
The Predators were just outplayed by Carolina tonight, and couldn’t break through the superior goal tending of Petr Mrazek.
Nashville was hoping to continue their momentum of late with a another chance on home ice for the win, but home ice advantage hasn’t been something the Predators have been able to count on.
Newark, NJ – The Nashville Predators make it two in a row with a hard earned victory over the New Jersey Devils tonight, 6-5 at the Prudential Center.
The win gives Nashville the much needed two points as they try to claw their way into the playoff picture, as they now find themselves just two points out of the hunt.
It was a game that produced a lot of scoring on both ends of the ice.
Nashville opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the contest, when Mattias Ekholm drilled a slap shot from the point that beat Mackenzie Blackwood in net for the Devils, and the Predators were off to a quick start, 1-0.
Washington, D.C – The Nashville Predators got a much needed win tonight against the Washington Capitals, 5-4. It’s been four years since the Capitals beat the Predators, and tonight’s win extended that streak.
Tonight was the first of back to back games, with a date in New Jersey tomorrow night against the Devils.
Richard Panik put the Capitals on the scoreboard first, firing a shot “top shelf” against Juuse Saros for the early 1-0 lead at 9:28.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators were hoping to “kick start” the second half of their season tonight after their “bye” week but the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs had other ideas.
The Leafs took the game 5-2.
The Predators, who are in desperate need of some wins, came out with some reshuffled lines, but fell behind early on William Nylander’s goal at 4:13 of the opening period to take the early 1-0 lead.
Nashville came right back though at 4:53 when Mikael Granlund took a pass from Matt Duchene on the 3 on 1 break to score the equalizer past Frederik Anderson for the 1-1 score.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators got a big win tonight as they head into the NHL All-Star break, over the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 2-1.
Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne was absolutely superb in net, keeping his team in the game, until Craig Smith could score the game winner in the third period.
This was a much needed victory for Nashville who desperately needs points to have any chance of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Predators got off to a blistering start in the first period, dominating the Sabres and out-shooting them at one point, 12-0, but it was Buffalo that drew first blood at18:58 when Sam Reinhart grabbed a cross-ice feed from Rasmus Dahlin and netting the opening goal for the early 1-0 Buffalo lead.
Los Angeles, CA – The Nashville Predators finally found their way into the win column last night with a convincing win over the L.A. Kings, 4-1.
With a depleted line-up, the injury plagued Predators played a team game and stopped their three game losing streak.
This is the first of a back-to-back series in Southern California with the Anaheim Ducks on tap this afternoon at 2:00pm.
Rocco Grimaldi got things started for Nashville at 10:21 of the opening period when his wrist shot beat Jack Campbell in net for the 1-0 lead. Rocco grabbed his own rebound to net the early marker.
Boston, MA – The Nashville Predators completed their four game road trip with a huge win over the Boston Bruins tonight, 4-3. Nashville picks up seven points out of a possible eight with tonight’s win.
Pekka Rinne started in goal for the Predators while the Bruins sent Jaroslav Halak to the net ahead of Tuukka Rask.
After a scoreless first period where Boston was relentless on offense, the second period saw the Bruins get on the board first at 7:30 when Par Lindholm was credited with the goal that bounced in after he rolled into the net.
Ottawa, Ontario – The Nashville Predators were a tale of two teams tonight, pulling themselves out of a second period hole to pull even in tonight’s game against the Ottawa Senators, only to fall short in the over-time, 5-4.
Nashville has managed to pick up 5 points on this four game road trip so far and have a date with the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
The Predators got off to a hot start in the first period with 17 shots on goal and a 1-0 lead at the end of the period. Craig Smith who has scored three goals in his last two games put the Predators on the board at 11:16 taking a pass behind the net and beating Marcus Hogberg for the early marker.
New York, NY – The Nashville Predators sweep their back-to-back series tonight with a convincing win over the New York Islanders, 8-3. Head coach Peter Laviolette juggled his lines tonight and may have found the magic his team has been missing so far this year.
Nashville played two nights of convincing hockey with wins over the Rangers, and tonight, the Islanders. Scoring was NOT the issue tonight.
Craig Smith got things started when he gave the Predators the 1-0 lead at 4:39 of the opening frame on a wrist shot that beat starting goaltender Thomas Greiss. Greiss wouldn’t finish the game in net.
