Detroit, MI – The Nashville Predators totally dominated the Detroit Red Wings tonight, exploding for five goals in the second period, to get an important road win, 6-1.
The Red Wings have had Nashville’s number, winning 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two teams, but tonight, the Predators were able to chase starting goalie Jimmy Howard with a flurry of goals in the second period.
Detroit got on the board first at 2:35 of the opening period when Andreas Althanasiou took a pass from Filip Hronek to beat Pekka Rinne on the short side for the early 1-0 lead. As it turns out, that would be the only marker of the night for the Red Wings.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators rebounded from the weekend loss to the Detroit Red Wings in fine fashion tonight, beating the hapless San Jose Sharks, 5-2.
As head coach Peter Laviolette continues to shuffle his lines to see where the magic is, the Predators appeared to be hitting on all points tonight.
THE Captain, Roman Josi got things started for Nashville at 6:16 of the opening frame with a wrist shot that put the Preds on the scoreboard first, leading 1-0. Josi was assisted on the score by Colton Sissons and Ryan Ellis.

Coming off of an opening night win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night, the Predators came into Bridgestone Arena with a lot of momentum, but they have always had trouble with Detroit and especially with Red Wings net minder, Jimmy Howard.
Todd Bertuzzi scored his first of two goals at 10:29 of the first period on a wrist shot that beat starting Predators goalie, Juuse Saros for the early 1-0 lead. The Wings then made it 2-0 at 11:40 of the opening frame when Anthony Mantha slipped a back hand into the net.
Los Angeles, CA – Just what the doctor ordered. A big win for the Nashville Predators.
Tonight in Los Angeles, the Predators did what they needed to do with a 3-1 win over the lackluster Kings. Coming off of two embarrassing performances of late, the Predators stepped up their energy throughout the game, firing 34 shots on goal and keeping LA goalie Jonathan Quick under fire for most of the night.
Viktor Arvidsson got things started for the Predators at 15:04 of the opening period when Nashville took off on an odd man rush after a Pekka Rinne save on the Nashville net.
Clarksville, TN -The Nashville Predators came roaring back from a 3-0 first period deficit, taking a 4-3 lead in the third period, only to come up short to the San Jose Sharks, 5-4.
Joe Thornton scored his 400th career goal for the game winner for the Sharks.
The Predators came out extremely flat in the first period, in game two of a back-to-back series after losing to the Anaheim Ducks last night, and found themselves outplayed by San Jose and down 3-0 after the first frame.
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators blew a two goal lead in the third period to fall to the visiting San Jose Sharks, 5-4.
The Predators were on a five game winning streak until tonight, and dropped only their second game to the Sharks in their last 11 meetings in Tennessee.
San Jose struck first on a power play goal in the first period, but Viktor Arvidsson evened the score on a breakaway goal to end the first period.
Nashville, TN – They don’t get any easier at this stage of the NHL season, but the Nashville Predators, behind goalie Juuse Saros, gutted out the win over the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena, 5-3 tonight.
The win prevents the Sharks from clinching a playoff spot.
Back up goalie Juuse Saros, who started in place of Pekka Rinne, put on a clinic in goal with 39 saves.
The win gives Nashville 111 points on the season as their quest for the President’s Trophy continues. Players and coaches have made no secret that they want that trophy and with it, home ice for the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Clarksville, TN – Pekka Rinne scores his 300th career victory tonight, as the Nashville Predators absolutely dominate the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena, 7-1.
The elite NHL goaltender was brought to tears during a post-game interview reflecting on his accomplishment in front of his hometown crowd tonight. Pekka Rinne has been one of the most popular players in Predators history and he showed his love for his fans tonight.
The Predators were relentless against the Sharks who had won five of their last six games before entering “Smashville” to face the defending Western Conference Champions.
