Montgomery Central’s Tyler Britt signs golf scholarship with Bethel University

 

Montgomery Central High SchoolCunningham, TN – The Clarksville area continues to prove it has some of the best junior golfers in the state of Tennessee, with Montgomery Central High School standout Tyler Britt signing to continue his golf career at the collegiate level with the Bethel University Wildcats in McKenzie, TN.

Britt, who will graduate in May with honors, has played as the number one golfer for the Indians the past four years — including having a team-best 39.5 average per nine holes this past fall, earning second-team all-area honor. Overall, Britt is a four-handicap, with a 75 average on 18 holes.

Eric Jinnette, Reagan Greene add names to illustrious list of Hank Miles Jr. winners

 

GolfClarksville, TN – Some of the best junior golfers in Clarksville have put their names on the Hank Miles Jr. Championship Cup — as the winners of the city’s junior city amateur tournament — and Eric Jinnette and Reagan Greene added their names to that list, June 19th, with one-stroke victories at Swan Lake Golf Course.

Jinnette, who will be a junior at Clarksville High School this fall, shot a final round one-under 70 to overcome a five-stroke deficit to Wildcat teammate Payton Williams (69-76=145) and finish with a two-day total of two-over par 144 (74-70).

Brian Balthrop wins second Commanding General’s title; Brad Van Kirk three-peats in Senior’s Division

 

Commanding General's Golf TournamentClarksville, TN – Being the only player to post two under-par rounds, June 14th and 15th at Cole Park Golf Course, Brian Balthrop recorded his second Commanding General’s Golf Tournament win in the past three years with a one-shot victory.

Balthrop finished with a two-round total of 139 (71-68), edging Wendy’s Invitational champion Tyler Phillips (72-68—140) by a shot, while first round leader Josh Black took third place (68-74—142), three shots back.

“I just tried to go bogey free,” Balthrop said. “Bogies early in the second round really hamper the momentum you have going in.

Josh Black leads Commanding General’s by two shots after opening-round 68

 

Clarksville, TN – Josh Black shot an opening round of four-under 68, June 14th at Cole Park Golf Course, to lead the Champion Flight of the Open Division at the Commanding General’s Golf Tournament by two shots.

Black was one of four golfers to break par in the Open Division, which includes Jim Mashburn at 2-under 70 and defending champion Jeff Chandler at 1-under 71 – matched by Brian Balthrop.

Wendy’s champion Tyler Phillips is four shots back after an even-par round of 72, with Colin Welker, Drew Miller, Jonathan Shuskey at coming at a 1-over 73 – with five other golfers at 2-over 74.

In the Open Division First Flight, there is a logjam at the top with David Sheron Sr., Lafran Marks, Todd Dalton, Todd Morris and Weston Sartain at tied after 18 holes of play with rounds of 6-over 78. «Read the rest of this article»

Clarksville City Amateur Golf Tournament won by Brian Balthrop on final hole as he birdies to edge Graham Sleigh

 

Clarksville Sports Network - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Brian Balthrop and Graham Sleigh went back-and-fourth all day Sunday, July 21st, at Swan Lake Course in the final round of the 2013 Clarksville City Amateur Tournament, but a final birdie on the final hole earned Balthrop his third career City Am title.
