Austin Peay State University has 170 student-athletes named to Spring honor roll

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 313 student-athletes posted a 2.914 grade-point average during the recently completed Spring 2014 semester, the athletics department announced Wednesday.

The 2.914 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the eighth-best mark in program history. It also is the fifth consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.

Austin Peay State University has 174 student athletes named to Fall honor roll

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 331 student-athletes posted a 2.944 grade-point average during the recently completed Fall 2013 semester, the athletics department announced Tuesday.

The 2.944 cumulative GPA accumulated by the department’s student-athletes was the fourth-best mark in program history. It also is the third consecutive semester the group posted a 2.90 GPA or better.

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – After a week off, the Austin Peay State University Governors Football team will open Ohio Valley Conference play at the Eastern Kentucky Colonels Saturday, October 5th at 5:00pm CT.

This is the second straight season the Govs have played in Richmond, KY. This will be the 46th meeting, with the Governors trailing the series 5-40. APSU lost to Eastern Kentucky, 45-14, October 13th, 2012, in Richmond.

But such is the case when Austin Peay and Chattanooga meet for the first time in 45 years, 5:00pm (CT), Saturday, at Finley Stadium. The Mocs own a 4-0 series lead, with this being the first meeting in the Scenic City since 1967.

Huge second quarter powers Vanderbilt Commodores to 38-3 victory over APSU Governors Football

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football team would hang in with Southeastern Conference member Vanderbilt University of a quarter, but the Commodores would get their offense rolling in the second 12 minutes of play by scoring 35 second-quarter points on the way to a 38-3 victory over the Governors at Vanderbilt Stadium.

After being held to a field goal in the first quarter, Vanderbilt (1-1) would finally get into the end zone on its fourth drive of the night, going 76 yards on nine plays, with Brian Kimbrow plowing in from six yards out for the TD, with 12:50 left before intermission.

APSU Governors Football to take on Vanderbilt Commodores Saturday in Nashville

APSU Governors Football drops season opener to Tennessee Vols 45-0

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUKnoxville, TN – The Kirby Cannon era got underway with Austin Peay State University’s football visiting Rocky Top, Saturday, and suffering a season-opening 45-0 loss to Football Subdivision foe Tennessee.

It’s the third consecutive season-opening loss for the Govs (0-1), dating back to the 2010 campaign. Tennessee (1-0) won its first game under new head coach Butch Jones – its 800th victory all-time – and improved to 7-0 all-time against Ohio Valley Conference foes.

APSU Governors Football set to play Tennessee Volunteers for first time

 

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUKnoxville, TN – The curtain will rise on the Kirby Cannon Era, 5:00pm, Saturday, when Austin Peay State University plays Tennessee for the first time in program history.

Cannon, who was hired as Austin Peay’s 18th head coach in mid-March, is only the third APSU coach hired in the last 50 years that owned previous college-coaching head-coaching experience.
