Nashville, TN – Outfielder Logan Schafer crushed a game-winning double to center with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Nashville Sounds a 4-3 victory over the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers in the opener of a four-game series at Greer Stadium on Monday night.
With the game tied 3-3 entering the ninth, outfielder Corey Patterson reached an infield groundout, moved to second on a single from catcher Martin Maldonado, and scored on the game-winning hit from Schafer (3-for-5).

Clarksville, TN – With the help of a national competitive grant, the Austin Peay State University School of Nursing is partnering with the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center to provide a diabetes management program for low-income adults.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Softball’s Morgan Brewer named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week
Nashville, TN – Morgan Brewer, who posted a 3-0 record this past week including two victories against second-place Jacksonville State, has been named the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week in a vote of league sports information representatives.
Brewer spurred the Lady Govs to a 3-1 week, including its first sweep of Jacksonville State. She did not see a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by Catalina Lofton, 35, traveling east on Cunningham Lane and collided with the Mitsubishi in the intersection.
Clarksville, TN – Saturday, April 28, 2011 Miller-Motte Technical College opened its campus to youth enrolled in the LEAP Youth Development Program. The tour was arranged by Maria Scott, the Miller-Motte High School Presenter.
Youth, parents, and mentors were provided light refreshments and given an extensive overview of the various academic programs including massage therapy, cosmetology, computer network administration, security and investigation, respiratory therapy and surgical technology. The tour consisted of five buildings including Serenity Salon and Spa at MMTC.

Clarksville, TN – The 3rd annual BBQ Cook Off at Hilltop Super Market will be May 11th and 12th, 2012. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishing teams as well as trophy prizes.
Team sign ups are going on now through May 3rd. The Categories this year include ribs, chicken, pork and brisket. The pork and brisket categories have been added this year.
Austin Peay State University
Clarksville, TN – The 18th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is less than two weeks from dropping anchor.
The 2012 edition will be held Saturday, May 12th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park. Last season’s tourney was postponed one week due to high waters and flooding that enveloped the area. Despite the delay, the tourney still drew 243 boats.
