Montgomery County Unemployment Rate drops in January, 2014

State of Tennessee releases County Unemployment Rates for January 2014

Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce DevelopmentNashville, TN – Tennessee County unemployment rates for January 2014 were released Thursday, March 13th, show the rate decreased in 34 counties, increased in 49 counties, and remained the same in 12.

Clarksville’s unemployment rate was 7.2 percent, down 0.4 percent from December’s 7.6. Clarksville is down 1.5 percent from January 2013’s 8.7 percent unemployment.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County was 7.1 percent, down 0.4 percent from December 2013’s 7.5 percent.

Stewart County’s unemployment rate increased to 12.0 percent in January, up 3.4 percent from December.

Scott County had the state’s highest unemployment rate at 15.9 percent.

Williamson County’ 4.5 percent unemployment was the lowest in the state.
