Indianapolis, IN -The men’s golf schedule teed off in September with teams playing in a variety of events, but the month closed out with the first regionally recognized tournament, where Tyler Phillips, from Clarksville Tennessee, finished second overall and helped the Trojans place third.
For his efforts, Phillips was named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for the month of September.

The Trojans participated in two tournaments so far this season, starting with the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate tournament hosted by Carson Newman.
The team managed a fourth place finish in a small field of teams, and Phillips finished in a tie for 24th, posting a three round total of 233 (76-75-82).
TNU took almost three weeks in between tournaments to prepare for their first-ever NCAA Regional Tournament since earning active status this fall.
The NCAA DII Midwest Regional #1 or the Chicago Midwest Invitational hosted by Lewis University featured a deep field of 34 teams, and the Trojans placed third, just one shot back of second.
Phillips led the way for the team, shooting back-to-back rounds of 72 for a final score of 144, which placed him second out of 169 total golfers, just two strokes behind the tournament leader.
