Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance to host AXIS Dance Company

Austin Peay State University - APSU - logoClarksville, TN – At 8:00pm on Saturday, October 24th, the AXIS Dance Company will present its touring production of “To Go Again” at Austin Peay State University’s Trahern Theatre. Joe Goode, an acclaimed choreographer from San Francisco, choreographed the work.

The AXIS dance company is a contemporary dance group with an unusual body of dancers, some of whom are disabled. The company exists to change the face of dance and disability.

In addition to the free public performance, the AXIS Dance Company will present two workshops for the APSU and greater Clarksville communities.

A veteran workshop will take place from 12:30pm to 2:00pm on Friday, October 23rd, for adults with and without disabilities who have any level of athletic or movement experience.

From 3:00pm to 4:30pm, the mixed abilities company will offer a workshop with adults and/or youth with and without disabilities with some level of dance, athletic or movement experience. The workshops will take place in the Memorial Health Dance Studios.

The AXIS Dance company residency is the third guest artist of the 2015-2016 Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence in the Creative Arts program. Additional funding for the AXIS residency was provided by a generous grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts.
