Tennessee Department of Education Suspends Grade 3-8 Testing Due to Vendor’s Inability to Deliver Materials

 

Statewide Assessment Contract Terminated

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN – Tennessee Education Commissioner Candice McQueen announced today the department will terminate its statewide testing contract with Measurement Inc., effective immediately.

While high school testing will continue as planned, the state will suspend grade 3-8 testing during the 2015-16 school year due to Measurement Inc.’s inability to deliver all testing materials.

Tennessee State Representative - District 67Nashville, TN – Several bills sponsored by State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville) moved along in committees last week. This is a general update on the bills and events on the Hill from this week.

House Bill 2616/Senate Bill 2635 The #SayDyslexia bill has now passed both the Senate and the House and is headed to the Governor for his signature. The bill will address early screening and intervention for the students with attributes of dyslexia.

APSU to hold CSM Darol Walker Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 28th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Colonel Rob Salome, garrison commander at Fort Campbell, will visit Austin Peay State University at 8:00am on April 28th to help recognize an outstanding APSU ROTC cadet during the annual CSM Darol Walker Award Ceremony and Breakfast.

Jack B. Turner established the award several years ago in honor of Darol Walker, retired vice president of Jack B. Turner and Associates Inc. in Clarksville and retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army.

Clarksville Police arrest Criminal Homicide Suspect Demetris Merriweather

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police were looking for 32 year old Demetris Merriweather in connection to a Criminal Homicide. The suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

On April 26th, 2016, Clarksville Police Officers discovered 38 year old Capitolla Cross deceased while doing a well-being check at 215 Harrier Court.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Involved in Accident on Ashland City Road

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – While traveling home from work, at approximately 8:50pm on April 26th, Investigator Geoff Blanchard with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) was involved in a head on collision on Ashland City Road, near Avondale Apartments.

Ashland City Road was closed down until approximately 5:00am this morning. Clarksville Fire Rescue (CFR) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) worked to free Blanchard, from his vehicle where he was pinned for nearly an hour. Blanchard was transported to a Nashville Hospital by EMS.

Clarksville Police are looking for Criminal Homicide Suspect Demetris Merriweather

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On April 26th, 2016 at approximately 5:49pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to 215 Harrier Court to check on the well-being of the resident. When they arrived they discovered 38 year old Capitolla Cross deceased.

The resulting investigation has led to an arrest warrant being issued for 32 year old Demetris Merriweather, for Criminal Homicide.

Clarksville Police are looking for Demetris Merriweather. If anyone sees him or has information on his whereabouts, call 911 immediately.
